We are NOT Man City..

Where are they calling us man city?

From what I can see the only thing that is man city is the domain name which is simply just an abbreviation and if that's it you need to all get a grip!

Some soft and precious bastards here on KarenMoon, sorry I mean Bluemoon. I'm more interested in what happens on the pitch than what we get called

It is a bit strange to choose that tag but honesty 11 pages of moaning already?
I have no problems moaning about the football side considering the investment and rise we have had over the past years, but come on..

Some absolute wimps support this club it seems nowadays
Get a grip

Why is everybody bitching about the website? It's slick, easy to navigate, and it runs fast as well. I thought the last one was total trash.

First of all they have't changed the name. Look at the badge and look at the kits. Man City just rolls off the tongue and everyone I know refers to us as that. Yes, I know it's your club and I'm here taking a different point of view than you but it's also my club as well. It's a modern digital social world we live in. Man City is an easy and direct way to unify web searches, twitter handles, web sites, etc.

Everybody knows we are Manchester City Football Club. Simple as that. I
I can certainly see the reasoning from a web/search engine perspective. I'd do the same. The club hasn't re-branded itself, it's simply shortened the name for convenience, just like we do with many things. I don't see how anyone finds the name 'Man City' in the slightest bit disrespectful anyhow. The disdain of rival supporters only really comes across when they purposely type it as 'Citeh'.

Just had a play around on the new site - its actually very good - takes a bit of getting used to but I think we will grow to like it. Not too bothered about the Man City thing - I call us Manchester City - thats all that matters. Still hate that kit but speculation will start on next years by New Year!

I really couldn't believe how fast it was considering how much traffic was hammering it. People are just uncomfortable with it because it's based for multi-platforms and doesn't have the classic desktop old school layout.

The Twitter handle @ mancity @ mcfc . You can see why they would change it.

Citeh does not bother me either as that is about how us mancs say it.

We're man City we fight till the end!

Maybe that's a reason the atmosphere is shit because we have too many proud fans who will not sing Citeh or man City

On the badge it's Manchester City. We are still Manchester City. The only thing that's changed is the Twitter handle and domain name.

Don't know about anyone else but I would never call us MCFC either, despite the website being mcfc.co.uk. It's just an abbreviation. Nobody refers to us in conversation as MCFC. At least not that I know of.

Man City is just a shortening of the name, because who wants to type manchestercity.com every time? Jesus it's not as if we've changed our name officially to Man City!

We are Manchester City

Or

Manchester City FC

Or

Manchester City Football Club

Or Even

MCFC

But we are NOT Man City

It's lazy..and how we are known by other clubs fans

The club needs to change this

Anyone else with me?

No. What a time to be alive and be a Blue. Lets focus on the positives at least for a few days. You can raise this again when the season starts. ;)

I'm in. I hate the Trevor Francis, Niall Quinn, Craig fuckin Burley 'MAN City'.

I've never liked the term 'Man City'. It's 'City' or 'Manchester City' for me.
You wouldn't type Manchester City out though would you. More effort. City is ambiguous. mcfc, or mancity.

mancity is the most recognisable short abbreviation.

When talking, we'd use City, MCFC, Manchester City, and then occasionally mcfc, but we're not talking, we're finding/typing stuff into browsers, therefore mancity is the most logical and obvious name to use.

Dropping the FC from everything was a move the rags did 20 years ago - we laugh at them for it, and now we are defending our own for doing it? Odd double standards.

For the record to me it's just plain 'City'

To be honest I don't care what fans like Man City

It's the fact the club itself have adopted the abbreviation

That's my issue..seriously it's like the club are trying to be hip

Like a dad going through a midlife crisis and trying to get down with the kids

It's all just a bit cringe

The single word 'City' is far too generic for website/search engine optimisation.
Exactly. It's just a technical matter of use and making the site easy to find /use.

Over time the way we refer to City might change a bit. People will be less likely to use the germ MCFC, but who cares about that. This is just a tag.

When I'm talking I use City, MCFC or Manchester City, but this isn't talking, it's shorted text

Alternatively they could just be trying to evolve. I realise that for A LOT of people change is tantamount to death, but there's nothing wrong with change. City have taken far too much stick from moaning supporters about the changes they are making at the club, when most of them are for the betterment of everyone who supports the club no matter where they may be.

Today's Pep's first day at work man and you're moaning about this like it's important. SMH.

That was my instant reaction too, but having read a few comments I see the point. Just a quicker way of getting to what you want which is what tags, abbreviations are all about.
