Kroos was just an example, we've been linked to a fair amount of players otherwise.

You're making an assumption about how many players we will sign, which is OK, but that doesn't look at the full picture. Sure, if you weigh up Gundogan, Nolito, Sane, Stones and Zinchenko against Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Pogba and Bailey, then on the face of it you would think United have the better signings and are thus in the better position. However, as I said before, we start in a position arguably better to begin with and simply weren't used effectively enough.

It's also easy to point out "Player X was the highest rated player in country X" but then, look at Otamendi, that doesn't necessarily hold water at all. Zlatan was the highest rated striker in one of the easiest leagues/teams in Europe to be a goal scorer. Mkhitaryan played on a squad leaps and bounds ahead of where United is right now. Pogba is Pogba.

The reality is we aren't done making signings and we already have an exceptional strong squad teeming with talent. Even assuming we stop where you suggest we stop, a lineup with Aguero, Nolito, Sane, De Bruyne, Silva, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Stones, Kompany, Sagna, etc still looks hard to beat, particularly with Pep at the helm.
I'm not saying our team isn't strong, it is. And I expect us to win it with Pep. But if you looked down each roster from top to bottom with no consideration for coachin, ID say an acquisition of Pogba shades it for them over every one else.

Based on what exactly? They hardly had a great team before the transfers. They have a lot of catching up to do, and not just with us.

Based on the possibility of pogba signing and other players they've brought in this summer, and a new manager of course. I see it as both clubs as equal this summer, fresh start for both teams. To say they had a lot of catching up to us is wrong, when they only finished behind us on goal difference.

So you have moved from them being favorites to being the same as us.

I think that's a copout. Their Manager wasn't that good either, not to mention Sane Pelegrini walked the league his first year with us. So clearly he isnt useless, even if not great. Even if we assume we won the league in spite of him the first year, what our poor form last season showed, was that we weren't talented enough to overcome an average Manager. United can argue the same with their Manager.

Zlatan, Martial, Pogba, Mhkt, and De Gea are either WX or bordering on it. That's 5 players. Rashford, a depreciating Rooney, Shneiderlien, Shaw are quite solid footballers. This pretense that they are a bunch scrubs is quite strange.
I'm not saying they're a bunch of scrubs. I think they've got the makings of a good side. I just happen to think we're better and likely to improve even more before the first ball is kicked in anger. I also believe that Pep is the best manager in the world right now and him coming to us will be the catalyst for continued success.
Saying Pellegrini didn't get enough out of us last season isn't a cop out, it's a fact bore out in the position we finished and the standard of football we played. The title winning side was a long time ago in football terms.
You're welcome to view things differently of course.

Both squads at the end of last season were about equal imo. Both clubs haven't finished spending yet, United have improved on last season with zlatan, Baily and mkhitayran and so have with gundogan and Nolito. Pogba for me though is the difference maker if they manage to sign him. I just get a little bit confused when some posters think were well ahead of them.

Can't imagine why you think United and City had equal squads last season. Finishing on the same number of points isn't evidence of that at all.

equal League results (both won Cups but we got to CL semis), but I thought for whatever reason City underperformed. If Pep can get Silva and De Bruyne to click together then we'll be difficult to stop. If Utd sign Pogba I agree that would be a game-changer, but at the moment I think they would struggle to get in the top 4. Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs all have better squads

Exciting season ahead, Watford will end up winning it if last season was anything to go by.

By saying it was a cop out I meant in comparison, as United can make that very same argument. And they too can claim to have improved in that department.

But either way, I think we will win the league. I don't think they'll get Pogba, but I expect they'll compete and make top 4 this year.

Hate to say it but I tend to agree. We should have nailed this last season, instead we will have a lazy Yaya strolling around
To many blues worried about the red scum, in Pep we trust & if anyone can get Yaya moving its him either on the pitch or off it. Gundagun when ready will change the whole dimension of the team his stats will be unbelievable this guys ball retention & passing is second to non. With Stones, Sane, Nolito, Peres added to what we already have + more big signings & the return of 2 very talented players in Kompany & Nasri believe me things will be ok. We have just seen the best coach in football take his first training session at City yes that's Pep Guardiola the manager of Man City for F Sake get a grip & stop going on about those twats in Trafford. Pogba is NOT going to UTD!

Ha ha well said bud!

Ffs lads and lasses......we have everything we ever dreamed of having (as a forty odd year old), lots of money, the best manager on the planet, a fantastic first team squad, youth and ladies teams ripping it up everywhere and by far the best infrastructure in football........yet we still have to compare ourselves to the swamp dwelling corporate slappers from Stretford!

Fuck them...they are today's Liverpool totally fucked and part of the recent past.

And I don't care about the special one, happy one, young one or fucking dolally one....
Manchester is, and always will be blue.

The future landscape is clear to anybody with a stem of common sense. Rant over now get a grip folks.

The more I see of Pogba the less I think of him I don't see all the fuss.

I'll be honest I was all up for signing him but after watching him in the Euro's I think there are much better out there, players with more football intelligence.

Pogba is a handful but world class? I'm not sure on that one and for the best part of £100m you should be getting the complete package Pogba is far from it.

This. Basically, we've got a squad that we know is capable of winning the league, because we've still got a core of players who have already done it. Can the rags say the same? They've got almost no regular starters from their last title-winning team, and have done nothing since then to suggest that their current players are capable of repeating it.
