I feel like £20 million plus Bony should do it, if they want Bony that is. Any team that thinks they can recreate the Bony form of a few years ago will be happy to have him, and Koeman likes having at least one big, strong striker in the team. Doubt even he will convince Lukaku to stay if a big club comes knocking.

Thing is, Lukaku didn't really do himself any favors during Euros, and the better striker on that roster signed for Chelsea. Don't see any big clubs looking to take Lukaku this window.

Why would we be happy to wait ? We could have him back and in training, bedding in with his new teammates. It's more likely Everton are digging in their heels and trying to squeeze about 60m out of us. This is far from sewn up

Even though he didn't get on the pitch in France, he's probably on his holidays for another week or so.

I've not watched the training vids from City but I'd guess there's no Hart/Sterling there yet.

The sums mentioned for this guy are rediculous. I would suggest this is probably the hold up.

‘In Barcelona the basis was Catalan players, in Bayern the basis was German and I would like to work with English players here but they are so, so expensive.’

Little dig at the price he has been told for Stones I wonder!

No just a factual comment about the cost of English players in general, i think.

Nah he's having a dig at Sterling, been reading the Sun.

The last two World Cup winners have Pep tactical DNA in them and were full of players from Pep's clubs. Both Spain & Germany have the whole deal where the top prospects are funneled to the Barca/Bayern but they never pay crazy prices to acquire them. With all this money coming in from TV deals, global pre season games that bring access to better sponsorships, it's time for clubs to do with the "English premium". Not only would we benefit but the National Team would benefit having quality English players/prospects playing under Pep. Putting crazy prices on Sterling,Barkley,Baines,Stones and even down to Patrick Roberts doesn't help the player at all.

Be honest, how many City fans are really bothered about the England team?

Been watching City since 1970, so certainly not a glory hunter, but it's always been a case of club before country for me. (Even prior to the media hatchet job on City's current England internationals)

I used to think it was really odd that mates who supported the rags weren't bothered by how the national team were doing in Internationals. I'm not quite as bad as those mates yet, but I'm certainly less bothered about England these days.

I love my football but international football does absolutely nothing for me. I have had the games on during the euros but seen very few good games and not many have held my interest. No real sadness for me when England lost. Was disgusted how the media and fans treated sterling.

Same for me, I'm mid 40's and watched 5/6 England games in full ever..... liked watching Brazil in world cup before all their players moved to Europe and 'Europeanised' their football, they haven't been much different to European teams since.

Always club before country for me too, mostly because tournaments are only every two years, but I do get behind England and would love to see the team show the world we can be great and win a trophy at some point, nothing wrong with a bit of national pride, I do think the influx of foreign players into the premier league has affected top English players coming through at top level, and think there should be a rule that more English players should be in the squads.

not having that mate! like even pep said yesterday if the prices of English players was more realistic then top clubs probably would sign more English players?

If England had a team with a philosophy and style of play then it would be much easier to get behind them. A better coach, with tactical nous wouldn't harm the case either.

I presume the hold up here is Stones being on his jollies, Everton wanting to squeeze as much out and get a replacement . No one else seems to be in the running and all the news is he's picked us. Definitely seems a case of when, not if.

Yes I agree that is a factor too that needs to be addressed somehow, clubs buying average players from all over Europe at half the price of the English players , nolito may be a half decent player that we got for £14m whereas an English equivalent say delli alli would probably cost £30m+ , crazy.
