Pep is a maniac in terms of perfection. It might be tough for him coming from a club with world class players Neuer, Boateng and Lahm in the defence. Lookin around on the City training pitch will make his mind quite busy I guess.

That's why I am absolutely sure he will want at least one ready world class CB, at least one. Ota is a hard working CB, Vinnie is all about fitness and Mangala is controversial.
Pep for sure wants a CB with a very good opening ability. Similar to Boateng at Bayern. It's a central position for his philosophy. Vinnie could do that but we all know about the uncertainties.

Pep for sure wants to reduce the number of goals conceded overall. That's why I am relaxed about the signing of a very good CB. Just wait...
He is here to proof his style of football in the most competitive league. He knows that he will fail without a 'super super' defence.

An excellent post - thoughtful and considered - are you on the wrong board?

I not sure you need a 'super super' defence in the Premier league if your forwards do their job.

City will make chances against anyone in this league with the squad we have now. Take them which we struggled to do last season at times and we win more. That said I not against Pep making some buys. He obviously will do to make his team

Isn't this the only existing board? :) Cheers from Hamburg!

If we have learnt anything from the EURO right now it certainly must be that European football is mainly about a strong defence. Pep has had 3 years in Germany where he was lucky to have a common sense of football being offensively played and Bayern comfortably been cruising through 3 league titles. Over 3 years Bayern scored 2.5 goals per match and conceded 0.6 on average! He surely knows that's gonna be different in England...

Scoring against defensive teams has become more and more difficult. This is an overall change in European football. Just score more than the opponent is not guaranteed against those well organized defences. Your own defence must be the base to be successful. Otherwise you may repeatedly claim you have been the better team after losing the match again. Like Germany, like France. Not much fun that. Pressure coming up soon.

I was joking about you being on the wrong board because you were being intelligent and not 'flapping'... You are very welcome here and you seem to support the 'right' team in Hamburg.

City and St. Pauli doesn't really fit. It's my little secret. But hey, luv's a funny thing. Me mate is from Manchester. CTID.

I've not completely given up hope on this just yet. If it was dead in the water I imagine either City or Juve would've briefed something to the press. No news might be good news, and all that.

Not sure that same concept applies so well when considering Aubameyang. Unless I missed something there other than that they were demanding too much (higher fee than we want, and we had to step off Zinchenko). I never heard that we backed down. We just heard those were allegedly the demands.

didn't we brief the press the same night denying the aubameyang story?

Gazzetta have FINALLY stopped pushing the Bonucci story. They seemed adamant it would happen.

If this is true then we should see City briefing the press soon, they usually do that like now with Claudio Bravo
