Umititi:
1. He's not a city fan, as far as I'm aware.
2. We've never been linked with a move for him in any way.

Doubt us trying to hi-Jack things at the last minute would have changed things very much.... Other than, perhaps, doubling his price tag.

Not "gutted" in the slightest

Pep is great but he's not a magician, he also has a long long list of things we're all expecting him to sort out(including a long list of players that need his guidance)... he's going to have so much on his plate among which adapting to a new league I don't think some of you realize there's only so much we can expect in his first season. Maybe he can do it all though who knows, wouldn't want him burning himself out with everything that needs doing it's a bigger job than Bayern that's for sure.

It is certainly a huge challenge and he certainly has a lot of players he needs to work with on his plate. The way he sets his teams up, a ball playing CB is non negotiable. I mean, it's practically a lynch pin. He's super open to a lot of changes but we will be pressuring the ball up the pitch and using passes from deep to penetrate layers. He must have a CB who can do this. Stones fits the bill. If we buy this player, we'll not only be investing a ton of money we'll practically be building the team around him.

Unfortunately what they will do is to carry on with that moaning changing it into a criticism of the player through out the season. These are the people who boo at our own players.
Not true some of the people demanding we bought Sterling at any cost quickly turned on him: "but that's not the player we thought we was getting waaaah!!!!" I believe the booers are more the spoiled brats of supporters. Or maybe wanting the club to improve negotiation skills or not caring about cost are not directly related to the amount that end up booing at all and we just want to say that to make us feel better about our own stance? :)

What a fucking stupid post, Mourinho wanted him , Pep wants him and by all accounts Barca wanted him, last season he was average, the season before that he was very very good, ball playing CB's like him are as rare as rocking horse shit, hes in the Pique mould-who incidentally flourished under Pep having returned there from United.

Abromovich couldnt even score against chicken shit defenders in the European Championships, did nothing of note against the better teams in last years and this years CL so what the fuck that's got to do with Stones Ive no idea.

Go and lie down, wipe your fanny and put some pan pipe music on.

Looks like the mention of Ibrahimovic against Stones itself has wound you up. Well, it's going to be a reality if we sign Stones and good luck if you feel confident of a CB pairing of Stones + Mangala/Otamendi/Kompany. Nobody is claiming here he was not wanted by Mourinho or Barca or Pep. It's the PRICE that is concerning. And especially when Sterling and the abuse he gets is still fresh. Ball playing CB is a good point, but I hope for 50m you get one who is good at more than that. Simple as that.

I'm not against the buy btw I just don't mind the club playing hardball(ie it's worth being a bit more stubborn if we can get a better deal as opposed to people getting frustrated with it and saying it's pointless... we're more established at the top in Europe now and we should start acting it in all things including being smarter in the transfer market) especially as he wants to come to us anyway, there really is no rush on this transfer he has so much to learn IMO that it wont make much of a difference to the start of the season when it happens.

What difference will saving a few million quid actually make in this context ? I mean it's not like Everton are suddenly going to go "oh okay, you're driving such a hard bargain, you can have him for 40 million". He's gonna cost close to 50 no matter what. Which is about the going rate for a player who is as highly rated as Stones and is at the age he's at.

The cost of the transfer isn't really an issue. Getting it done in time to have Stones in on the Chinese tour is. We need to hit the ground running - Pep will know that - especially with two CL qualifiers and then the derby in pretty quick succession.

It's not like you're going to halve the transfer fee through tough negotiating. I don't think we're going to show them a youtube compilation of mistakes made by Stones and they'll suddenly ask for 25 million pounds instead. When people are saying that it's pointless and we should just pay the fee, they're saying that we shouldn't let a few million pounds get in the way. On this particular player, since he has an extended break due to the Euro, I see no point in rushing but we should get him here to train as soon as he's available so he can get used to his role in Pep's system.

Big nose couldn't even get the better of mangala and otamendi flower. I think you need to stop talking shite.

Do you judge a player who has performed consistently season after season and scored 50+ goals in the recently concluded season or just 2 games ? Again the point is I don't feel confident of putting Stones up against him. I would trust Mangala and Otamendi ahead of this 50m rated player.

Will be important to bring him through alongside Kompany. Once he settles in he will be brilliant for City. One of the best young players in the Premier League. I don't see the connections you make with Sterling or Ibrahimovic. I'd be gutted if City had brought Ibrahimovic but these idiot Utd fans keep going on about him not realising that frailties of the human body and the ageing process. What is he a fairy who lives forever?

I'd be confident putting Alan Kernaghan against Ibrahimovic !

That's where I disagree with you a few million quid IS significant, we can also maybe get them to agree to make some of it bonus related which helps us out even further, that's entirely possible and worth the effort. Like I said he's not going to hit the ground running anyway(too much to learn in a pre-season pointless panicking) so it doesn't matter when he signs there's no rush on this one for me just people being impatient... let the people at our club do their stuff, we do need to get better at driving a hard bargain it helps you out with future negotiations it really does. In the past we were more desperate they knew it and we gave these agents and clubs a free ride, now we don't have to and we should be showing our might more... well that's my 2p anyway.

We probably already are , but as history suggests any transfer regarding City gets blown out of all proportions, Raheem signed for £44m but gets called the £50m man when in fact it rises to £49million when certain targets are met.

They did want that money outright at first though didn't they? It was also one of the reasons it took a while.

We paid £44m for him at the end of the day, there is always a premium on the top talented English players, we were going to pay over £40m for Laporte who for me would have been the bigger gamble, its the footballing landscape we are now working in and fees have become silly for everyone not just City.

Spot on id rather buy an english lad who is used to the league.

Are you on the wind up? Come on own up pal!! Which league did the 35 year old ibrahimovic score all these goals? And secondly tell me where you would rank ligue 1 with the premier league, serie a, la Liga and the bundesliga. Stones will have big nose in his back pocket as will most of the defenders in the prem.

Nah, I totally disagree. In terms of hitting the ground running that IS the most important thing. Pep hasn't come here to not win. We will be expected to hit the ground running. We aren't giving and agent a free ride and we are incredibly demanding in how we deal with selling clubs. However, like with Sterling, like with De Bruyne, like with Stones, if we think a player is worth the money, we will pay it. Simple. We'll get some right and some wrong. But for me the most important thing is that we have Stones in for pre season training. Not trying to shave a few million pounds off a fee which is going to be largely irrelevant due to amortisation anyway.
