Labour / Tory Party meltdown Referendum fallout

I'm lol(ing) at bojos new job I assume he's been told the term piccaninie isn't in popular use now

Never mind the relative merits of chutneys. Smart choice. More talent and charisma in his little finger than sits on the whole opposition bench. They can peer through the window tutting and scratching their arses while others get on with the business of governing the country.

Could well be Bozza's launch pad for leadership at a time of his choosing.

He's actually the perfect guy for the job. Well known globally and well read in history. A man who has a proven record at connecting with a wide audience and as British as they come.

My bet is he will be a roaring success
You've been breathing in too much of that rarified Swiss mountain air mate.
Those attributes you list are not not necessarily what makes a good Foreign Secretary.
High risk appointment just to appease the brexiteers?
Did she need to do it? I don't think so.
Bookmarked.

The question of is Corbyn electable will be decided by those that haven't voted in recent elections.
There is a large amount of people that have given up on the democratic process due to both parties that have a chance of winning the election being capitalist neo-liberal in thinking.
Corbyns challenge is to motivate enough of them to re-engage & for the Labour movement to have candidates with a similar political aims.

Either that or they have no interest in politics and cant be bothered. That would cover most of the non voters I come across. The words 'capitalist neo - liberal' wouldn't cross their minds. Mind you it's never crossed mine either.

An awful lot of those non voters voted in the referendum, and voted in contrast to the way Corbyn wanted them to vote.

Agreed, but there is a painful process to be gone through before Corbyn can present a united front to motivate the apathetic.

If Corbyn wins the leadership contest again, with the PLP stuffed with "right" thinking individuals, then de-selections inevitably follow. How that shit storm plays out determines the future of the party itself.

I'm torn on the Johnson appointment. It's either sheer genius or total ineptitude. I get that May has applied the 'you Brexed it you fix it' to its leading light Johnson and two others in Davis and Fox with Leadsom having to ensure farmers still get their EU wedge covered. Davis will be doing all the work except he has no department, staff or infrastructure and his plan seems to be resting on the EU not having the hump over Brexit.

Fox will be drumming up trade (rough or otherwise) and I am not sure what Johnson is meant to be doing apart from playing the role of Boris Johnson. I can see Boris loving the travel and the lunches and all the swank that goes with being FS and I can see him going totally native in less than a month and extolling the virtues of being at the heart of Europe and advocating the closest possible ties and integration. That Boris will also be an arse is a given so no news there.

If it all goes tits then May lets Boris and co take the flak and if Davis does pull a good deal out of the bag (and Davis is the grown up out of the three) she can take all the credit. And by a good deal it also must satisfy Scotland and Northern Ireland. May did take the opportunity to remind everyone that she is leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party and that the union is vital. No UK PM wants the breakup of the Union on their CV especially not a Tory one.

Diluting the Brexit effort over three departments with the main department containing the one competent minister only existing on paper strikes me as odd but we will see how it plays out. What is certain is that it will take years to play out and the faultline of Europe in Tory politics will continue to consume political careers for years to come.

Still hearing that Corbyn is unelectable. Does anyone have definitive proof of this, and I don't mean some fucking pollsters opinion, as those cunts know fuck all.

I'm no Leftie, but every time I see this guy on the telly he talks sense, in language that anyone could understand. It's probably a shame that the dip shits in the PLP are snivelling gobshites who have spent most of the last year plotting against their leader instead of attacking the government.

Fair summation that. Key opponents in the PLP and the hangers on include Milliband, Brown & Kinnock, all losers.

Scotland, is your proof, if Labour cant get Scotland back they cant win an election, in the Scottish parliament elections, they got pushed into third place. I guess you'll blame the scottish labour party, but unless Corbyn can win in Scotland he cant win. Unless he can win over floating voters and win seats in middle England he cant win.
Winning over grassroot labour voters isnt enough he has to get voters that voted for Cameron, like it or not its a fact shown over the last 40 years.

This is a good read....

Everything you need to know about Theresa May’s Brexit nightmare in five minutes

I'd say I enjoyed it, but the picture it paints isn't very enjoyable at all. Does a good job highlighting why a huge majority of people had no bloody idea what they were voting for though, including me. What we must undertake now to ensure the stability of a country is something only very few specifically experienced people can appreciate.

More chance of Blair being convicted for war crime's that corbyn being elected and not going to happen this side of hell freezing over
