Think Mourinho will go into this reckoning he knows exactly what Pep will do so the best thing wecan do may be to switch it up a bit. Pack the midfield to overwhelm their Pogba-Herrera partnership. When Silva and De Bruyne get their short, sharp passing going the inexperienced Baily and the out-of-position Blind won't know how to deal with it and if Nolito comes in as a false 9 that will confuse them even more. Shaw and Valencia aren't the quickest and so I would say we start Sané and Sterling (Sterling and Navas if Sané isn't ready) to beat them down, keep them pinned back too as both offer an attacking threat. Fernandinho, with help from Kolarov and Sagna, should be able to deal with Mata and Rooney but I feel like we will need Sterling down the right hand side to combat Martial's pace as he is amongst their biggest threats in this game. Ibrahimovic should be dealt with nicely by the strength of Kompany and Kolarov and Stones can come forward to a CDM role when we're attacking, to help out Fernandinho.

Or, we could play a 4-4-2 :3

With Aguero out i would go with Nolito up top - he reminds of aguero without the pace (low centre of gravity, gets his body infront of the ball, good feet and will work his socks off) Let the pace come from the flanks with Sterling and Sane (although he may go safe with navas) For me we have to sacrifice either KDB or Silva for a more balanced CM - Gundogen i would sacrifice KDB on current form as Silva looks fantastic at the moment.

I am bit unsure about the defence, Sagna if fit is a certanty as well as stones, if Kompany is Fit and i think he will be he has to come in for me - although i wouldnt be upset with Ota being there. Left back is our weakest position at present - Clichy just isnt good enough nor consistant enough - Kolarov although rejuventated at CB would be great with the ball coming into that CDM position but question marks against his defending from the LB position.

Id go with

Bravo

Sagna Stones Kompany/Otamendi Kolarov

Fernandinho

Gundogen Silva

Sane Nolito Sterling

I was impressed with Nasri last week and he would be in contention to start for me but looks like he is off to sevilla..

Subs: Cabellero, Zaba, Clichy, Kompany/otta, Navas, Kelechi, KDB

From what I've seen, shaw and Valencia are probably one of the quickest in their position in the league. Who ever is agaisnt them will have to do very well to get past them.

Sitting on the fence then ;0)
Agreed wholeheartedly!

We have fuck all to fear they will sit deep and play long balls up to big nose! So no need to worry about that! Early goal and we win by at least 3!

Tell it like it is ;-)

I like to think Pep is coming up with something extra special for this game. Just like how he made history and perfected the false nine role against Mourinho at Real Madrid.

I reckon this might end up being the second longest prematch thread behind CL Final ;)

Gotta good feeling about this one, we will win hopefully by a margin of 2 at least

Would we start with 3 debutants in a derby?

Even if Sane hadn't been injured I think his first couple of games would be from the bench. In view of how long Gundogen has been out, I doubt he would play more than 30 mins in his first game. Similarly, I expect that Kompany will start his comeback at Swansea (assuming he's fully recovered).

I have to admit that over the years I've met some rags who were ok guys, and quite fair minded where we were concerned. I've noticed that this category is nearly always Mancs (which by the way I'd better own up and say I'm not — I wasn't born in Manchester). It's the plastics from Australia or wherever who have never set foot in Old Trafford who are the truly unbearable ones. But I also admit that when I meet a rag who seems ok, it makes me uneasy. Basically, I like things simple and I like category boundaries to be clear: which means being able to think that all rags are cunts, by definition.
