Nicolas Otamendi - 2016/17 performances

Best I've ever seen him play for anybody today, not just City. And better than Stones on the ball.

Because Stones was close to falling apart completely, I would give Otamendi the motm, because if he had lost it, imo the rest of the back 4 & keeper would have blown it for us. There were other fantastic performances but Silva, KDB & Fernandinho had each other, all on the top of their game.

Otamendi had people dropping bollocks around him & stood up. A captain's performance.

Totally agree about Ota but not about Stones. Thought his defensive qualities last ditch tackles were excellent today. Loved how he dug in when he needed to rather than the nice passes. Plus nice he was back on the line....

I agree to some extent that Stones had his least effective game for us but was hardly falling apart. That said Otamendi was really fantastic. Best I have seen him play and could easily have been mom. Great performance and spirit from him.

it was the whole team and to pick a stand out is hard maybe i would give it to jose

Stones did some good work defensively & also some proper shite imo & his passing was more dangerous to us than anything Pogba came up with.

We will have to agree to disagree thought he played well today. Watching it back for the third time and some of his clearances, yes not spectacular were very timely. Think him and Ota proving to be a good pairing.

Yep. Two replays showed it, no comment.
The worst part about this on MSNBC was how the 2 commentators were busy arguing over whether Bravo's tackle on Shrek was a penalty. One thought it was but the other didn't. And then they showed the Baily tackle on Otamendi and the guy who disagreed Bravo's was a penalty exclaimed ' that's more of a penalty' the other dudes agreed it was, and they promptly went back to discussing the Shrek disagreement.

I'm like why don't you dufuses make an issue of the one you both agree is a penalty. Mind boggling!!!

For the love of God, stop rolling around on the floor holding your face. It's embarrassing.

Absolutely brilliant performance and a good start to the season overall.

But he seriously needs to cut out the "I've just stood on a land mine"..."oh no, I'm absolutely fine, lets get up a split second later and have a sprint even though I've just looked like I've lost a leg"

New keeper comes in. First start and it's the Derby. Replaces one of City's favorite players. The focus on Bravo is entirely understandable. Moreover, if everyone agrees that Otters was fouled in the box, what's to discuss, beyond the fact that yes it's a clear penalty missed (which is what the commentators said)?

Agreed. The playacting is embarrassing. Ashley Young gets fierce hammer on here for his Tom Daley impressions, and rightly so. We don't need one of our own doing similar type shite. He was excellent yesterday, as has been the case so far this season. Stick to what you're good at Nic, cut out the amateur dramatics.

Hopefully someone like Kompany will take him to one side and tell him to knock it on the head.
