Marde arsed twat, also as noted already the fee would be eye watering, we would have a bit of his prime though, but then the decline all to soon after (possibly). If someone said he will adapt and have a long shelf life though i would find it hard to argue against that. We have also gone pretty far down river with this squad and setup already, he would change everything and i am curious to how the current dynamic will do in general tbh, that may sound daft to sum i admit.

worth whatever it takes just to hurt the rags and the rag cock sucking media.
Oh my life there would be a fucking meltdown. Riots on Fleet Street......

Technically, there would be no fee (at least to Barcelona) as his contract is up in 2018. Messi on a free is unbelievable to think about but if he got down to 12 months left I think Barcelona would be forced to sell him so that they avoid not making anything off the best player in the world. So what would Lionel Messi cost next summer?

Isn't he able to buy out the last year of his contract under the Webster ruling?

I found this:

Article 17 of FIFA's Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players is entitled "Consequences of Terminating a Contract Without Just Cause", and is the fifth article of Chapter IV, "Maintenance of Contractual Stability between Professionals and Clubs". It outlines the provisions which apply if a contract is terminated without just cause, and the requirement for the party in breach to pay compensation.[9] Specifically, it states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed. If he is 28 or older the time limit is shortened to two years.[10][11] Article 17 was introduced in December 2004, with effect from 1 July 2005.[12]

I think we might have to pay a tad more than £150! But he's not on £500k a week as I think his basic is about half that (£13m a year). The rest he gets from commercial deals. much like Rooney. But we could also bring in something like £50m a year in additional commercial income so effectively it's a nil cost deal.
