Hull (a) Post Match Thread

Yaya was superb today has his appetite back. The respect our fellow players have in the big man is there for all to see. Thought Silva and Kevin also played very well. Gets a lot of stick but thought Kolorov also made a difference. Kelechi worried them late on with runs into the box. Sterling is fast becoming such a critical player for us and makes things happen. Bravo won't survive longer than a season. Pep is definitely learning and realises we need to be more pragmatic at times. Not a fan of Ota but thought he did well today also. Just feels like the momentum is building now.
 
I just think it's brilliant that we can put in one of our worst attacking performances of the season and still win 0-3. That's the kind of thing that makes the great teams stand out.

Won't get the praise or attention from the media,it's all being heaped on the rag offside goal so good that offsides shouldn't count in them situations that's according to motd ..

Why is it contradictory? Yaya does it, Silva does it, KDB does it, Sterling often does it. Players rarely make decisive runs into the box or open up space.

That second goal was a prime example. KDB has the ball and Silva is outside him. When I played, I was told the killer pass was inside the full back for the wide player to run onto. But Silva's hanging back, clearly expecting a square pass in front of the defender. KDB tells him what he's going to do so he accelerates into the space in front of him and gets a yard on the full back. He then has room to pull a beautiful ball to Iheanacho. But he shouldn't need to be told. Silva should be telling KDB where to put the ball.

We do actually use that sort of pass sometimes, particularly when Zab's at right fullback, where KDB has the ball about 25 yards on the right and Zab is slightly ahead of him on the touchline. He plays a beautifully weighted vertical pass inside the defender, into space, that Zab runs onto. It should be devastating but our players are too often all standing on the edge of the 18 yard area watching. When we get it right, like the 3rd against Barcelona, then it's usually a goal.

Look at Yaya's first against Palace. He plays a vertical pass to Nolito inside the area then moves into space to open up room for the shot when he gets the return. It's a move that has some purpose other than just retaining possession.
 
We're gonna win nowt. Loads of players not good enough. The goalie, put under excruciating pressure from instructions to play/pass the ball out to piss poor defenders, who eventually end up hoofing it to our relief. Up front, without Aguero, there's nothing, we need a 6'4" centre forward for back up. Our wingers, Nolito, Sterling, Navas, are too slow in thought and piss poor in execution of any kind of pass or shot. We've gone backwards, Mancini's team would have wiped the floor with this lot.
 
Well deserved MOTM for Yaya, he might not have the legs to make those lung busting runs anymore but that's not necessarily a bad thing but he is very reliable where he's playing.

Very solid game for me all round. This league is tough and there isn't an away game that is easy for anyone anywhere. Hull we likely go down but they fought hard and up until we scored they were competitive but other than Bravos wander we never really looked like conceding to them. After we scored we dominated but that's pretty typical for any top side to do against the strugglers.

Liverpool will be an interesting game. Past couple of seasons we've been strong favorites each time we've played but this time not so much. Liverpool arguably have a worst defense than ours has been (much better recently) but their forward line is impressive. Pity Manne couldn't leave for ACN a little sooner but at least Courtino will be missing. Got to hope Aguero is in a goal scoring mood and doesn't get frustrated.

If I remember correctly, the pass to Sterling was in the 90th minute
IMO PB's post is contradictory because PB said Yaya was outstanding but PB complained we went too much side to side yet Yaya Is the main reason for this, He orchestrates it

Dude, they chose that footage to highlight his great performance - which it was. Our best player for 3 games on the bounce now. YaYa is currently playing as well as he ever did in 2011-12.
