As a nation we have to remain vigilant.
Sometimes being vigilant can upset minorities and this is most discerning.

However my protection and the safety of my family lies with MI5 and our own homeland security .
They tell me everything is not alright and the threat level to my family is somewhat severe.
The current threat level for international terrorism in the UK is SEVERE. (MI5)

What the threat levels mean
Threat levels are designed to give a broad indication of the likelihood of a terrorist attack.
  • LOW means an attack is unlikely.
  • MODERATE means an attack is possible, but not likely
  • SUBSTANTIAL means an attack is a strong possibility
  • SEVERE means an attack is highly likely
  • CRITICAL means an attack is expected imminently
I am not sure what the current level of threat is in the USA / Can anyone enlighten ?
His elected job is to protect his people and protect his country.
We all live in dangerous times and if freedom of movement for some is temporarily curtailed then so be it.
So be it and the gnashing of teeth and the wailing of the few will not alter the situation we sadly find ourselves in.
I am sick to my stomach of weak politicians who after the event tell us that lessons will be learned.
The time to take action is know and the electorate and voting habits of the masses do appear to substantiate this do they not ?
Heartbreaking but true and what a sad sad world we now find ourselves living in.
Be safe and stay alert.

So why doesn't he/the security services just refuse all applications from those countries on legitimate grounds I.e they are coming from a warzone but do it quietly, rather than announcing an outright ban?!

I am not defending him, I just find it odd that if he genuinely wants to do this(and it looks like he does) why doesn't he do it in a more calculated, professional, presidential way rather than coming across as an unhinged, paranoid, white supremacist?

He doesn't seem very savvy
 
I see Trump's been giving the New York Times plenty of free publicity on his Twitter feed. I suspect it's having the opposite effect to that which Trump intends.
 
He has lost his first serviceman on a raid he authorised,didn't catch where,7 insurgents killed,hardly worth it,i bet he hasn't even noticed he is so busy banning muslims

It's completely against the constitution and there has never been a terror attack in the US from the countries he's banned.

It's a policy from Steve Bannon who ran the white nationalist Breitbart. ABC and NBC were reporting that Homeland Security has been restructured so that Bannon can overrule after an executive order by Trump.
 
The president and his office are now openly defying a court order...

I somewhat agree with you Argyle but we have been attacked many times and what can happen here can so easily be carried out across the pond.
A fine line between common decency freedom of movement and homeland security.
Where does one draw the line in these dangerous times.

I don't need an alarm because I have never been burgled. ?

Weak politicians like John McCain and John Kerry I presume who served, must be proud of strong Dick Cheney who himself avoided serving but was ready to send thousands to death on what is now referred as alternate facts. It was on his watch 9/11 happened and who even after the fact did not learn the right lesson starting the wrong war.

Good post @Mancityus and as Argyle has pointed out the Presidents not for moving and is fully exercising his constitutional powers to protect his citizens.
All stopped visas will remain stopped.
All halted admissions will remain halted
All restricted travel to remain restricted.

A new world order of politician who make pledges and policy and then go on to uphold them.
My god can this be really happening and if so this must be a first ever ?
Politicians with a backbone that carry out their manifesto that his electorate actually voted him in for.
I shall take myself to one side for a moment as I have come over all giddy.
