You think sitting down and telling companies in no uncertain terms that if they want to ship American jobs overseas it will cost them dearly is a bad thing?
You think wanting to have sensible peaceful relations with Russia and it's armoury of nuclear weapons is a bad thing?
You think wanting a free trade deal that allows the UK access to the $18 trillion American market is a bad thing?

It is possible to denounce Trump's ban and any ban on Israeli citizens at the same time. "B..B..But countries ban israeli's" is not a defence of Trump, and it doesn't make people criticising Trump hypocrites - it just means there's more than one person in the wrong.

Believe me, if Obama had done anything to actually implement limits on lobbying I would support it. I don't identify as a Democrat or Republican believe it or not. Even in UK politics I've only ever voted Labour (fucking Ed Miliband) and to Remain in the EU in the Brexit vote.

And not criticising, but if you were more vocal before the actual election it might have had an effect. Whatever you think about Trump's supporters they were vocal in the run up to the election.

Outside of this thread I really don't give a shit. You're all city fans and you're all good people whatever your politics are.

I do believe it. I was just talking with someone about that. The political lines seem so blurred. Both parties are in utter disarray, neither able to offer up many attractive, qualified candidates in my view -- just opportunists and "I-deservists" and dynastists. Where is the candidate who is involved in political life because he or she wants to serve their fellow person? The best we can do seems second best. Just the nature of the beast I guess.

And I don't think politics and personality are connected. We're all shaped by our experiences in life -- they make our politics. None of us share each other's experiences exactly. My ultra-liberal and ultra-conservative friends wonder how I can connect with the other side. Because a good person is defined by how they treat me and others, how they treat kids and dogs, that's how. Politics has nothing to do with the friends I choose. There's something to be learned from both sides, and common ground to find too.

That said -- the vast majority of conservative friends voted for Clinton . . . or said they did (look where I live).

Are you telling me that years ago you haven't said something about the opposite sex that you said because of the company you were in, and the circumstances and the situation, that perhaps wasn't totally appropriate?
