You might run into the same issue though mate. I would move the pc close to the router temporarily just to check. If it works you know a booster will solve the issue.

I got a new router recently and all the laptops/phones etc. synched up no problem. My old laptop didn't. I had to go into system and wifi settings and allow it to find the new router.
