I deliberately always try to use a new starting word each day so it’s not just a formular to crack it by using a ‘best’ starting word.

How’s your resting heart rate? As I got fitter my heart rate lowered and as it’s naturally quite low I get blackout/dizzies if I get up fast. In hindsight this first happened when Adebayor scored against Arsenal and ran up the other end from where I was sitting. I thought it was just me shouting...

Agree. I ran London in 2016 as a one off and had no intention of doing another marathon but an odd set of circumstances saw me do it again last Sunday. Both times were exceptions to my normal running routine and were well worth the change in intensity for benefits in other areas maybe to the...

Important to get the full message here though: doing some excercise is massively beneficial to your health. Doing too much can be harmful. I’d hate anyone to just see and misinterpret the headline here and think that they should stop running!

Good luck to all doing Manchester on Sunday. Trust your training, don’t try anything radical or new on the day and make sure you take it in and ‘enjoy’ it as much as possible. It’s an amazing thing just to finish and that should be your primary objective. Everything else is a bonus!

Well I got round at London but not quite how I planned. It was cold early on and I went off a bit quick but felt ok and was resigned to slowing second half. Knee niggle started playing on my mind after Tower Bridge so I just let the pace slowly decline and finished at a crawl. Knee in agony...

No pacers at London this year anyway. I think they had to agree to all sorts of conditions months ago when planning to ensure they got to run it and pacers was one thing they got rid of (creating clusters of runners?) The bag lorries are gone too which is a bit of a pain as anything you have...

Yeah they recycle all the stuff they can which is left at the start. Just get old stuff you no longer use and take that off when ready. Even in the actual start pen minutes before you go there will be areas to dump clothes so you can leave it till just before you run to strip down.

I did a few HMs on my own (not events just running/training) and averaged 1:35 - 1:40 ish. When it came to (my only) marathon so far I set myself 3:30 as a target and training hard and working hard got just in with 3:29:37! Shortly after that however I did my first HM event/race and carrying...

I like to run with watch showing my average pace and know what pace I require for certain times. I want 3:45 for London so thats basically 5.20min/km pace. If my average is a little below this that’ll be great as I’ll be storing some time for second half when I’ll undoubtedly slow a bit. If it’s...

To all of you doing The Great Manchester Run on Sunday good luck! My daughter is a student at UoM and has volunteered as a marshall and will be somewhere around the finish line handing stuff out to all you worthy runners!

I had this and missed week 9 of my plan as missus tested positive so I had to stay home too even though I was neg. I filled in with Zwift in the garage to keep the legs moving and stay sane. First run out after ten days isolation was bliss!

Good work. I’ve only done one marathon (London in 2016) and trained up to about 23 miles before cos I was just unsure of not training closer to the full distance. The training plan had 20 as the max and I’ve followed it again this time and not gone further (Did my 20 last week) It’s amazing what...
