    Benjamin Mendy - 2020/21 Performances

Performance today reiterated my intuition that he'd make a great LWB still, even if he has lost a half-yard of pace. At LB in a back 4 I think his positioning would need to improve to be effective defensively. Without the pace he needs to time everything much better than he is used to.

Neymar makes racist abuse claim Brazilian lip-readers seem to think Alvaro is definitely guilty. Spanish lip-readers don't think he said anything like "monkey". Fascinating how so many people on here seem to think that only Alvaro can be...

This was probably about the same as our map versus Lyon, too much possession routed out to fullbacks who aren't comfortable threading passes and attacking space.

    Rodri - 2020/21 Performances

He may still come good, it’s only been one (really weird) season but that fee and that player was for a single 6 playing under a pair of 8s, with one capable of dropping back to help rarely. That was the system. This is the standard he ought to be measured against after, say, this season. He...

    Rodri - 2020/21 Performances

I didn't know Vardy was man-marking him, maybe Rodgers sees something with him that I don't or maybe Vardy was going to mark the non-KDB midfielder, whoever that may have been. Pep has clearly told him to shoot more so maybe he'll start taking more forward liberties with the ball in general. At...

    Rodri - 2020/21 Performances

Rodri was supposed to replace Fernandinho, we have to compare them. As for Fern being a one-off player, Casemiro held a similar role at RM as just one example. Maybe our mistake was not signing a Brazilian. It's only been one season so Rodri can still 'click' the way that Bernardo played better...

    Bernardo Silva - 2020/21 Performances

He needs a run in the team. Not sure Pep will give it to him if last season is any indication but we're really missing his ability to link play together against low-defending teams.

Alternatively, an interpretation is that this is on the manager, since his tactics and personnel management are directly responsible for the players' attitude in this case! While I'm inclined to agree with you since our form really cratered without Kompany, it's worth noting that we also used...

Leicester City (H) Post Match Thread

Actually, we don't tuck the wingers in often enough in my opinion. Mahrez doesn't have the pace to stay out on the flank and his touch, dribbling, link-up play and eye for goal are all wasted out there. When we have a team like Leicester or Lyon packed into their third defending with 11 men we...

    Neymar makes racist abuse claim

Hasn't Alvaro denied this? Just consider the possibility the twitter mob might be wrong on this one. It feels great to be part of a grand movement for justice but it's idiotic to take sides without proof.

    Spurs thread 2020/21

I'm not convinced Mourinho is past it tactically, he overperformed significantly with United when they got 81 to our 100. He's starting to get some of his own signings in at Spurs, and it's telling he went after two midfielders. Spurs have shit creativity from the midfield which has been...

    Everton thread 2020/21

I think Ancelotti is the perfect manager to take out-of-form talents like James and bring them back to or beyond their former best. He's one of the best man-managers in the world and was pretty much universally loved by his past players, including some of the biggest egos in world football...

Arsenal (a) pre-match thread (Game given go ahead 1350hrs)

I partially agree, but it also indicates that when the Emirates is bumping it makes for a tough atmosphere. Not that I expect it to be bumping tonight. I think earlier replies are spot on, if we score first it'll be downright toxic for Arsenal players.
