    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Is it time to fund a national, locally administered coronavirus test for EVERYONE? That will tell us exactly how many cases we have and where they are. The areas above a certain threshold get locked down and then from there normal local testing/hospital admissions etc will surely indicate...

75 years ago today (Hiroshima bomb)

Japan massacred 200,000+ in Nanjing, attacked the US/Pearl Harbor without any declaration of war, invaded the USSR, attacked British Hong Kong and Malaysia. There may be a legality question but I have no doubt about the morality question, the bombs were a price they brought upon themselves. By...

Crazy Explosion at Beirut Port (video)

From what I've read the warehouse and the area was used for storage which makes sense as it is next to a port. Obviously fireworks may of been stored too, if they go up due to a fire which spreads to tons of stored ammonium nitrate then indeed you're having a bad day.

Crazy Explosion at Beirut Port (video)

There is no need for a bomb, the bomb is already there. With the chemical involved you would just need an ignition source and by the sounds of it the ammonium nitrate was probably mixed with oil which is the ignition source (normal but strictly controlled and probably why it was in that...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Interesting arguments made here https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/covid-cases-in-england-arent-rising-heres-why/ Are tests causing a case rise, or are cases rising? This suggests that the difference in cases between now and early July is just 250 new cases per day with no exponential increase...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Yes, SARS was far less infectious but far more lethal. This virus seems to have high infectivity but quite a low lethality. The untested asymptomatic cases would otherwise prove that the mortality rate is probably a lot less than 1%. The problem has always been if the entirety of the worlds...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Saw this post on Facebook today about the lockdown and whether it applies, brilliant. Copy'n'pasted for your pleasure: Where even is Greater Manchester? Someone might need to clarify to us Greater Manchester residents that we do actually live in GM for this new lockdown. Here's why. Altrincham...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

You meeting your dad is completely irrelevant and isn't the issue. The issue is you are meeting in a pub and some pubs when busy probably have 50+ people coming and going. Any single 1 of those people could have the virus and spread it to many people in a short space of time, those people will...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

1.3 What should I still avoid doing? It remains the case that you should not: socialise indoors in groups of more than two households (anyone in your support bubble counts as one household) – this includes when dining out or going to the pub socialise outdoors in a group of more than six people...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

This just highlights the point in all of this which is why are people being total tw@ts and need to be told exactly what to do, let alone those choosing to put themselves and their families at risk. We saw a study yesterday about how heart damage was found in the majority of (often young)...

    COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Worrying but should also be expected as it was seen in SARS too. It might also explain why those of certain ethnicities (some are more at risk of heart problems) and those with other health conditions (obesity) are more likely to see serious symptoms.

    VPN Advice - (2020 pg12)

I've never tried this before but if you use a VPN to pretend you're in the US and login to Netflix with the ID you use in the UK, will they stop you logging in or only show UK content? I'm interested in HBO Max and Hulu but won't they ask for a US address for your billing address? VPN's seem...

    Holiday advice

The hype and rules are precisely why infection rates are so low because at one point they weren't. The fit and healthy thing is also pointless unless you only consider yourself and not the people around you, this is where people need to be responsible. If I was going away then I'd isolate when...
