    Liverpool thread 2019/20

I had one on the phone at work today, telling me City had (wait for it...) "got away with murder in Europe, the other week". Apparently, telling him that was an ironic choice of words, coming from a Liverpool fan was "a low blow, mate". They're special, alright.

Okay, a lot to parse there. I bow to your superior knowledge on the origin of the phrase sportswashing. First time I ever heard it was in regard to us. So... The central thrust of your little mini-thesis is a bit of a rail against à la carte ethics. That's fair enough. Please note though that...

Leaving aside that I have been here for 15 years (and also that I am not entirely convinced you know what agitprop actually means), this is Bluemoon, not Rawk. Disagreement is allowed.

Firstly, genuine thanks for such a considered response (and, indeed to everyone else). You main three arguments are (a) the possession of constitutional position (if it is of sufficient rank) provides the individual with immunity from criticism of acts committed in the name of that position...

I completely agree. There's no doubt that we are the whipping boy.

Sorry but this isn't unsubstantiated. There ARE human rights concerns around Abu Dhabi and our owner IS connected to the regime. Those are the facts of the matter. I know we aren't owned by Abu Dhabi; that technically and legally we are at arm's length from the regime but there's no point in...

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Not only that but David Gill and everyone at Manchester United Football Club will also want a speedy resolution. "For the good of the game," don't you know...

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

You're quite correct about theSthe Captains podcast. Is the Off the Ball circus still on the radio with a second hand set of clowns, then? Show how high profile it is, if so. I'm deeply involved in sport and it's simply never spoken about. I'm fairly confident that they were shown the door...

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Not that popular. It was on one of the independent national radio stations to begin with but got taken off the air. There was much weeping from the presenters' buddies in the written media, at the time but to no avail. The show simply wasn't up to scratch. In fact, it only came to be vaguely...

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

I thought the judge in Portugal issued an order that nobody anywhere could use the hacked emails? Did I not read that in the CAS verdict? Obviously, Der Spiegel are based in Germany and not Portugal but does anyone know if that order might have a bearing on how these latest allegations might be...

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

It's a particularly revealing message too: 'How dare UEFA allow evidence [that effectively cleared City of wrongdoing]!?' they ask. Never once allowing for the fact that the purpose of the hearing was to establish the truth, rather than say a process of vilification.

CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

It does! For my money, this is one of two extremely important -but so far, unreported - things in the verdict. The other being that the Leaked Emails were in fact "fruit of the poisonous tree". Only there was no proof that UEFA themselves hacked City [and they were acting on information now in...

    Media Thread - 2019/20

Not sure if this is the correct thread (apologies if not) but isn't it sadly predictable how the narrative, from earlier in the year, that "City signed up to the rules and should be held accountable, blah, blah, blah..." hasn't been reversed to UEFA also signed up to the same rules and clearly...
