    9 | Khadija Shaw

It will be interesting to see how City handles contract extensions for its other star players now that it's broken the bank for Shaw. Will they be extended or will City pinch pennies and let some of them go to keep its player payroll manageable, signing younger, cheaper players to take their place.

She wouldn't be thrilled but would have to accept it....Is Beever-Jones an adequate replacement for Shaw, were she to leave? I haven't seen enough of her. I mean, Beever-Jones is not as good, I think we can start there.

City “strongly trying” to sign Beth Mead and Katie McCabe - The Athletic

To let Kerolin or Fowler leave would be foolish, especially if Shaw departs. I'd be trying to sign Barbara Banda as a striker out of the NWSL. Very good, dynamic player. Have no idea of her contract situation with, I think, Orlando. Would be hard to get, I presume.

City “strongly trying” to sign Beth Mead and Katie McCabe - The Athletic

I'm not sure why ManCity would want to sign two oldish Arsenal players. If you need another winger, sign someone younger. Maybe they're doing a favor for Viv? Mead is 31, or about to turn that age, and hasn't been playing much. She's talented but past her prime, which is also true of McCabe.

    Match discussion (WFAC) - Chelsea 2 v 3 City - Sunday 10 May KO 15:30

I couldn't agree more about Keating. Whoever concluded that she was a good keeper? She is not. I've watched her many times, and she ALWAYS makes a couple of terrible decisions/howlers, in every game she plays. She's especially guilty of chasing balls way out from goal. In this game she just let...

    9 | Khadija Shaw

If the club can find a striker who is clinical, the team should be OK without Shaw, mostly because Miedema and Hemp are so good at creating chances for Shaw--or any striker. Fowler is a very good attacking player, but hasn't she almost always played wide? The team will miss Shaw's physicality...

    Match discussion (WSL) - City 1 v 0 Liverpool- Sunday 3 May KO 12:00

Shaw and Kerolin were not good today. Shaw, for all her goals, is a very wasteful striker. Miedema's absence has really lowered the quality of the ManCity attack. Hemp is still doing good things, but the quality is lacking. Huge points today. How is it that any team can have three games in hand...

Fowler should have come on at 60', not 82.

It's clear that the team misses Miedema. She's the team's linchpin. What is her injury, anyway? Shaw scores a lot---but she is also very wasteful. Nobody in the WSL gets half as many chances as she does. Let's get a goal.

    Match discussion - Arsenal (A) WSL - Sunday 8 February KO 12:00

Smith terrorized Knaak for much of the match. Knaak strikes me as a bit of a weak link. Solid player, to be sure, but she is not a great athlete and does not have good recovery speed, and she can get exposed, as she was multiple times today by Smith and others. Shaw needs to start looking for...

Vote: Etihad Player Of The Month

The team has an embarrassment of talent, but Miedema is the team's linchpin: Her football IQ and passing skills are unmatched. She is the team's offensive catalyst.

She was excellent defensively against Baltimore and James today. Tremendous work rate, strong on both ends of the pitch, likes being a leader. Who's a better outside back in the WSL than her?

    WSL - City 5 v 1 Chelsea 1st Feb 2:30pm Etihad Stadium

Maybe so--but to be fully fair ManCity were hobbled by injuries to their top players. Miedema was out, Shaw missed lots of games, Hemp and Greenwood were out last season. 4 of the team's best players.

Match discussion - London City (A) WSL - Sunday 25 January KO 11:55

I've not watched her play much, so this is something of a premature judgment, but Knaak did not look good to me today. She was caught out on LC counters quite a lot and her recovery speed looks...not especially good for a defender. Miedema made some lovely passes today--starting with the...

    Match discussion - United (H) - Saturday 15 November K.O. 13:30

That was a brilliant tackle and pass by Miedema to release Shaw. Shaw is too slow passing the ball when she doesn't have a play; she had a chance to lay one off for Miedema a while back but dithered and didn't get rid of the ball. For all her talent and scoring, I find her frustrating at times.
