I always used to watch on the big screen at The World's End (Finsbury Park branch) although it was back in the day and it's an Arsenal pub... I normally stay around Kings Cross when I visit London these days as so many tube lines go through there, you can get pretty much anywhere with minimal...

    Kalvin Phillips

From the BBC's Gossip page: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants the club to sign Leeds United and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips, 25, for next season. Can't remember cos I entered 2 or 3 years ago then had to defer cos I got bad tonsillitis... then Covid happened. It is a ballot, however I'm sure that you're a lot more likely to get a place compared to London. I just Googled it and the ballot for 2022 opens in January.

This morning was the Great North Run and I must say, I was very impressed. Superb organisation and a HUGE event. It's a different route this year; I would describe it as 'gently undulating' - you seemed to be always going up or downhill. The support and general atmosphere were superb. Red Arrows...

It finishes near where it starts this year but that is a one-off. The London Marathon finishes a long way from the start but I guess London's transport is so good that it doesn't matter.

    I miss David Silva.

Sounds like you're smashing it, @Paladin. For the end-of-run routine, it's often suggested that it's a good idea to actually keep moving rather than stopping. One way of doing this is to walk at the end of your run for maybe half a mile or so. Also, eat something when you can, and obviously...

Stuart Pearce in the new Stranglers video

Nice guitars but there's no Stranglers without Hugh Cornwell.

My thoughts precisely. It all went downhill after Alain left. I think Boz is no longer in the band (?) so could it be that the two guitarists fell out?

Musical Mentalist Lee 'Scratch' Perry is Dead

I was going to see him on tour in November. Sad news. He came out with some mad shit. I remember reading an interview he did with Q magazine back in the day and he said (might not be verbatim), "To share a toilet with my wife would be an abomination."...

Is anyone doing the Great North Run? I forgot that I had a place until my running number turned up in the post the other day. I had a place two or three years ago and had to defer after coming down with tonsilitis, then Covid happened so I just forgot about it. I'm meant to be doing the...
