Because sensible business is knowing what you want and having a specific value you are willing to pay. You say it's only 5-10m pit of 90m,but why not then 100? It's only 10 more. Or £110?

Yeah, seems I was wrong there.

Yeah, OK, seems I was wrong about that one

They don't though. We drop back 10 yards and they regroup and say 'OK, you're 10 yrds further back, now what are you gonna do?' teams are a lot more comfortable letting us have possession than they were at the start of the Pep project, and it shows - we don't really score 5/6 goals a game anymore.

Trouble is most teams are now happy to just hold back in their own box, let us have all the possession in the world, and try to block the final product.

Perhaps 'target' is the wrong word. Acceptable or desirable is better, nevertheless policy is structured around maintaining inflation at a given level, and that has a corresponding level of unemployment attached to it. If employment falls too low, actions will be taken which will (either...

As I explained in another post, the government maintains a target unemployment rate. 100% employment would be harmful to the economy, increasing inflation and restricting the growth of business do to lack of an available employment pool. So, how should we treat the millions who are unemployed as...

    Universal basic income

The problem with your analogy is that humans do not live in anything even remotely resembling a fair society. Not even close. And no one really gives a shit. So the idea that there would be a mass uprising if it were 'unfair', but in a different way, is laughable.

Well, as another poster sagely pointed out, gilt rates are set by the office off debt management, I didn't realise that's what he was talking about. But the bank of England does set interest rates, with the goal of controlling inflation. A consequence of that is increasing unemployment. Higher...

Why did the bank of England set the rates that they did?

    Universal basic income

Fuck, if only there were some middle ground, between homeless people starving in the streets and our lives being worth nothing more than how much we can be exploited for, and giving everyone £200k per year. If only.

Stupid little things that bug you

The way traffic lights make you wait for a minute to cross when you press the button. A deliberate minor inconvenience imposed for having the temerity to want to cross the road.

    Universal basic income

It's not 'for nothing' though. It provides a real and measurable benefit to society and the economy.
