City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

We are in 222 and its rammed with them all the time.

either report it to the club or why next next home game ask them why they missed they Liverpool game

What total crap.

I travel from Edinburgh for all home matches. The Metrolink service simply needs a few more double units at key times. That does not require massive capital spending just better organisation. You can walk to the City Centre in 25 minutes, it is hardly the back of beyond.

I normally travel by train and get the tram in or walk to the stadium. Generally there are no problems. I needed to be in Otley near Leeds by around 8:00PM yesterday and came by car for once. We parked at Ashton Moss Park and Ride. After the match I was in the car by 6:45 using Metrolink and arrived in Otley by 8:05.

Any delays in expanding the North Stand have bugger all to do with transport but rest on calculations if the extra seats will be filled on a consistent basis for FA Cup and Champions League fixtures.

Your experience is different to mine. We travel from Edinburgh and used Ashton Park and ride all last season. The tram in is no problem. The tram capacity back is nowhere near adequate and involves either waiting a long time or enduring a cattle crush. We binned it after the first game of the season when my wife was injured in the crush. Use just park now. Takes time to get away after the game but at least you are in the warmth and comfort of your car. The metro system would need to be significantly improved to deal with another ground extension imo. Just as a by the by, in my correspondence with the company that runs the metro, it is clear that they play fast and loose with health and safety. There is a maximum no of people the tram can carry. This is not policed or enforced after games and a tram can be carrying 50% more than it is intended to.

Have the trams improved since the 2nd line was opened in the City centre? I expect that they are always going to be filled to over-capacity after a football match.

I get the bus in and out now, and the journey-time has improved massively this season. Was not worth the q last season. Possibly due to City centre roads re-opening?

The queue into Manchester is controlled at the top of the stairs where counters allow only the right number of people onto the platform to fill a tram. Dos that not happen going towards Ashton - I agree that Metrolink could do more to add extra services in both directions post match, and it seems that they don't currently.

Seems better to me. Still a bit of a wait and crush after the game. I can get to Prestwich via the tram in about the same time it takes to walk back to the car, and drive there.

Sniff all you want mate i was there and was surrounded by dippers, It gives me no pleasure to mention it but there were plenty of empty seats. Why them seats where empty i don't know. If the game was sold out why are people buying tickets and not turning up ? There can't be that many season ticket holders who couldn't go to the game !! Something needs sorting with the ticketing strategy because its a farce !! Opposition fans are always going to get a few tickets in the home end it just happens but the amount around us was a joke and it was the same last season (surrounded by dippers not empty seats).

Well it looked completely full from where I was sat (North Stand), with the exception of the dippers section, which bizarrely had a number of gaps on the third tier. Unlike previous years, no scousers to be seen in our stand when they scored - loads of Asian tourists though!

From watching on TV it looked like we unfortunately had thousands of empty seats.

North stand looked very sparse in particular, which might be why you didn't think it was too bad as its harder to spot in your own stand.

There were also lots of the 'half and half scarf' brigade out in force, taking selfies often when there is a throwin etc

We do, unfortunately, seem to have real problems with getting actual fans through the turnstyles, which will probably get worse in years to come the way certain parts of the 'match day experience' are heading!

That timing begs the question, when did you leave the ground?
The match kicked off at 4:30, and, allowing 15 minutes for half time and the 6 minutes added time in both halves, that means the earliest the match could have finished would have been 6:21. That time does not include the time wasting at throw ins, goal kicks, etc, so it was probably well gone 6:30 before the final whistle blew.
I always leave at the final whistle and got back to my car on Clayton Lane at almost exactly 7:00pm, and phoned my daughter at 7:03 - it's a ritual we have after every match for me to phone just after I set off.
I'm not trying to get into a debate over leaving early or not - that's your personal choice, and I have great respect for you from travelling so far for each home match, but I question your timings in this instance - it just doesn't add up!

Not visible from other stands, but clearly visible on TV.

I still can't accept or understand so many fans not turning up, yet the sold out signs where on the OS weeks ago.

Been saying this for a while, along with other's, something is going on and isn't right.

City fans want tickets for matches like this, but can't get them due to it selling out, even though loads of empty deats are visible on the TV, and the OS states sold out.
