How Much Do You Gamble?

Brings back horrible memory's some of these comments - not only money but years wasted off my life drowned in the gambling world. Genuinely find it hard to even talk about.

I am fortunate to say that I have never felt any urge to gamble, I know a few people who have had a shit life due to betting.

What make me laugh is,all these bet companies all say bet responsibly, yet if you watch a live game on TV,virtually every advert is a betting advert.

You've sort of just confirmed what i was questioning... Why is every comment about gambling connected to addiction in this topic?

If you drink, you don’t have to get drunk do you?
If you have a line of coke or have a spliff you don’t have to become a drug addict?

As i said this is clearly personal issues not gambling issues.

Gambling isn’t a bad thing. Like drugs, beer, sex, anything..... Do it in moderation
Well yeah, but a thread on alcohol also wouldn't be full of people claiming that they frequently come out of the pub with more money than they went in with.

And if cigarette and alcohol use were increasing at the rate gambling is in the UK, then you certainly would have people talking about what a problem it is. But as it is, those things are going down, whereas gambling losses are increasing massively, fuelled by constant advertising and shady business practices.

Household spending on alcohol, drugs and cigarettes has gone from £20 a week in 2000 to £12 a week last year. Meanwhile, gambling losses have gone up by the amounts mentioned earlier.

Nada, not even The Grand National. Holds no interest to me at all.
Had a few good nights at various casinos around the world but that's about it.

I returned to UK 3 years ago after 20 years in NZ. In NZ I used to put in about £50 a week beting on Greyhound trifectas. Bigest win was £492. At the time I enjoyed it. Since I've been back not botherd with it. Op was right about the betting ads. They should be banned but Sky and Bet Fred etc are in total control. When the fun stops you are in the shite knee deep.

I only bet on the Grand National as a bit of a laugh and only bet what I can easily afford to lose. Last year I placed my bet in a bookies in Bury where three blokes were betting on virtual horse racing and we're not talking £2 each way. Frightening

£5 on most City home games at the ground.
Mostly first and correct scores.5x £1 bets.
Bit of fun, stopped serious gambling years ago.
Serious I mean sitting in bookies all day every day horses and dogs.
A real waste of time.
