Had a nosey at the Red Hall site, it's basically just a building for the HQ. No rugby stadia or anything. So you can see how aquiring the "mini-coms" as we used to call it, appeals greatly. The HQ location hasn't been fully divulged yet, but looks to be no room for expansion or development. Maybe Fbloke's hunch the site is going to be widened is correct - garages long talked about. I think this part could be significant

Anybody able to shed any light?

Not at the moment, but possibly next week after Sir Richard Leese and Marty Edelman have spoken on the topic in an event at the Manchester stand during the world's largest real estate convention:

Think you might have made that mini coms bit up!

While final plans for the new headquarters are still being developed, it is confirmed that the Rugby Football League will also become major tenants of the regional arena which will be rebranded as the National Rugby League Centre.

That's nothing to do with Mini Coms :)

What regional arena are they talking about if not the athletics stadium, which is known as the regional athletics arena?

Ah, right. The little stadium used to be known quite commonly as mini-CoMS. City won't be letting RL share the Academy Stadium, that's for sure.
 
Watching the tunnel cam v Chelsea. The away team arrive and look around the place and think not bad at all. Tend to forget these teams are seeing the changes for the first time. Then they get played off the park, leave the stadium, and they may be a bit jealous of it all. The coach, the football, the stadium, the facilities etc
