Now the water industry and the Government are planning to set daily usages targets for us all as we simply waste water and take it for granted they say.

Listening to the reports it seems the industry wants everybody on water meters so they can charge more and they admit to leaks losing enough water to supply the needs of 20m people per day - thats a third of the population FFS !!

Lets make a deal - they fix the leaks and I will only use the short flush on my bog - until they keep wasting water to that insane degree why should we be lectured by them about water saving?

Water meters are great for people living on their own,they cost is a fraction on the old system,as for drinking water i use bottled as my pipes are ancient and deliver all kinds of muck with the water,i recycle all the bottles,i do think family households probably use vast amounts of water and will get hammered if they have a meter,the tories should be going after all the companies for the leaks before us plebs

The water companies should be careful by fixing the leaks they routinely ignore for months.Its easier to penalise the population by higher charges though.

There was a massive one in Newburn near Newcastle upon Tyne the other day - flooded streets and cars within minutes. see my link in the OP

I agree with that,i was just wondering if subconsciously he had changed how much water his family use
