The benefits of privatisation

The benefits of privatisation only apply if there's an actual choice for the customer. How many people have a choice of three different companies when they take their train to work in the morning? But politicians love privatisation because it means that when public services are shit, they can just blame some faceless company, rather than having to do something about it themselves. That and being able to raise vast sums of money quickly to make it look like they've balanced the books.

There is competition - there are about 100 118 numbers of which around 10 are directory enquiry numbers - they just get away with charging stupid amounts because they can because competition in this case like rail and utilities is just an illusion.

Anyone who feels the need to ring directory enquiries fully deserves to be rinsed. And being outraged by it is just as bad. Just fucking google it, it’s free you know.

I don’t have a problem with 4 ( Buses
.
Ignorance is bliss and ignorance is relied upon by the owners of capital so they can exploit the people.

Some Bus related facts.

Since Bus deregulation/ privatisation

Bus use outside London has fallen 32.5%
Fares have risen 35% above inflation
£2.21 Billion was paid in subsidies to Bus companies in 2016/2017
£2.8 Billion was paid out in dividends up to 2013
£467.000 was paid in bus subsidies to a private operator in Leicester. Pop 329,000
£6 million paid back to the council by council run Lothian bus in Edinburgh
£2 million returned as dividend to council by council run buses in Nottingham
All 11 municipal bus companies that remain reinvest profit in local infrastructure
56% of buses in Grayling the cunts constituency are foreign owned. They pay to subsidise travel/infrastructure in other countries

Privatisation is a con trick designed by the rich to get richer. They are the nations/peoples assets not some idealogical halfwit like graylings.

"We want more money for the NHS."

"Okay lets sell some random unused holes in a wall to raise some money for it."

"You can't do that, disgrace! Nationalise the holes!"

As you can see near g-mex amd under dilly the holes can be used as vital car park space in a city or as sheffield st shows some local start up business can develop.

Having some hedge fund own the lot and make shitloads doing exactly the above from rentals, makes no sense, surely network rail could make money renting the space and keeping them in our ownership.

In fact some are long enough to convert into flats if people had any imagination

But as the guy said they need that money to invest in the railways - i.e. make the balance sheet look good this year and up the share price so divvies and bonuses all round - he never really answered why the ongoing rents year on year weren't a better bet to finance the railways than a one off hit.

Their core user base is the over 60's who will have always used dir enq's and may not be good on the old net - so the old folk get robbed blind by two David Bedford impersonators and you say they deserve it? I think its appalling how its got that high a price and further more if the regulator wants to cap it at £3.10 for 90secs then what the fuck has the regulator been doing up to now allowing it to get to be such a big sum??? These govt regulators "protecting the consumer" are just a waste of fucking space. There needs to be bodies that can take decisive and meaningful action

So basically network rail boss makes his tenure look like it was profitable claims a bonus and 10 years down the line when it is all fucked up he will be retired and not giving a shite.
