What did the kids do before the internet?

Playing hide and seek, knock and run, general hanging around with our bikes, wall ball, kerb ball, and then, because a lot of my childhood was spent on the south coast, swimming in the sea, footy on the beach, general wandering around between various people's houses.

We found porn in an old barn. Had an arcade in the village, Gorf!, having to come in when it was dark, hearing my old man whistle more than once meant a thick ear, an hour max on the Atari and lots of camping as a mates Dad had an old massive army tent.

On top of that we walked 3 miles to school.

All this,my childhood was also mostly spent outdoors being active and playing sports and obviously causing mild mischief.

Kids these days spend their time attached to an electrical device and being fed from a microwave. Its no wonder many of them are the size of an elephant.

Played football on the fields every day/evening/holidays.
Kerby.
Kick ball hide, one of you had the ball and it was left in one spot, the rest used to hide and you had to try and kick the ball away from the original spot and go back and hide whilst the kid looking for you had to go and get thè ball and start again.
Played 2,4,6,8 ralivo caught, 6 or 7 on each team and you'd hide round the estate and had to hunt the others down.
Kingy. Where you had a tennis ball and had to throw it at each other in order to get caught, you could only pick it up with your knuckles and throw it as far as you could.
Coming out on Christmas day to show off your presents or tell each other what you got.
Going for huge bike rides for hours. I suppose kids today do the same but this time they are armed with a knife, a gun and 10 wraps of class A's.
Hunting for bomy wood and building bommies for bonfire night and making dens with the wood you got.
Camping out in your garden overnight. Take turns at each others houses, proper tents with food and drink for the night.
Blimey what a difference a generation makes.

13, 14 & 15 year olds all glued to the PS3/4. Very sad. Should be in the pub like I was!

The best memory I have is the long summer holidays (we got 8 weeks off school because we lived in the next village along who started their two week factory shutdown early. Not that we went anywhere apart from a few day trips to Blackpool, Lake District etc). Every day from 5 till 6 you heard all the mums shouting their kids' names across the village.

Jigsaws, Lego, meccano, football til we couldn't see the ball anymore, den building, bike riding everywhere and just general exploring.

I'd say before the age of 12-13 was the happiest ive ever been and ever will be, man that's depressing.

Have to agree sadly. Whose fault is it though for letting them spend hours and hours with a PS/Xbox controller in their hands?

football with a tennis ball, jumpers for goal posts, sugar sandwiches, trout tickling, japs and commandos, home made batarang...
Thank fuck for t' internet.

We ran around a lot shouting P'tang, Yang, Kipperbang...... Uhhh

also, shoplifting from Tommyfield market,

throwing fireworks in postboxes,

phoning the operator from a phonebox and asking,
"are you on the line" when she says yes, we say
"well get off there's a train coming"

but mostly we avoided BBC DJ's & priests.
