I seem to remenber that Ron used to drop kick the ball from hand, rather than punt it. Could it be false memory?

Indeed he did. As kids we tried to replicate it on the local park but the ball ended up being sprayed round like a mad woman’s piss.

Far too young to have seen Ron in action, however I have great memories personally from attending Just4Keepers training sessions at Medlock which he ran alongside his son. What a nice bloke he was, always up for a chat and keen to pass on advice. RIP Ron.

Very sad to hear the news about Ron. When I was a teenager living in Wythenshawe, even though he was already playing for City and was “famous”, he was a regular visitor to Baguley Boys Club where he would hang out with the lads, playing five a side or table tennis. He would also play football with the local kids on the green outside his house. RIP Ron.
