Following on from something mentioned in the Forum changes thread, just thought it’d be interesting to get a better idea of what users would prefer to see when it comes to political threads in Off Topic.

Many of these threads just end in arguments and petty point scoring on all sides, so often you get little sensible debate or discussion. They can make the atmosphere pretty toxic at times, and are a pain in the arse to moderate.

On the other hand, would Off Topic be a bit dull or perhaps even banal without any political discussions?

Would a better compromise be to have a political sub-forum so that those who want to debate politics can do so without it clogging up Off Topic, or would that be a fairly pointless move?

It’s not a definitive poll or anything (as a staunch Remainer I’d probably ignore “the will of the people” anyway [joke]), but it’s always useful to get a feel for what users think. As always, any thoughts or feedback appreciated.

Ban all non Tory voters.

I would go for a politics forum.

Let it be a bit more risky than the rest of off topic with less moderation. A bit like the olden days.

One politics thread. One Brexit thread. In off-topic.

Except for in extreme circumstances they should be free to debate strongly.
