Last Film You Saw

Watched Arrival again 8/10, love the soundtrack and for me the question if you knew the future would you still do it?

Whitney (documentary about Whitney Houston) is revelatory. Lots of family hangers-on, sued by her own father, allegedly abused by a famous (female) family member - and some amazing performances (inc the national anthem in the Superbowl when the US was fighting in the Persian Gulf). Commentary makes links with state violence being used against black people as well as against enemies - but it's still goosebump stuff - especially on a cinema screen rather than youtube

There's also Postcards from the 48% - a documentary Remainsplaining to the rest of the EU why half the nation didn't want to leave. Lots of talking heads but a prophetic one early - "we're going to spend the next two years arguing about a Brexit deal to see if we possibly have a Brexit deal that might just be as good as what we've already got - like children fighting over toys instead of playing together, achieving things for the world; we don't have time for this shit". Hardly likely to convince any of the 52% because they won't watch it. Sad when you've got an 81-year-old saying she's got friends of 50 years she can't afford to lose, so they can't even discuss it. And all about two years late...

How it Ends kind of a road trip but keeps engrossed in it to the very end.

A desperate father tries to return home to his pregnant wife after a mysterious apocalyptic event turns everything to chaos.

Watching Skyscraper currently, fucking hell it's dull. The film tries it's very best to be decent but it's just shit. If you have a lad, tell the little fucker to go fuck himself if he asks you to spend your hard earned at the cinema to see this. Dull is an eyebrow raising term when talking about the annual summer hollywood blockbuster but all the sfx in the world can't save this bag of smashed bollocks.

You know whats going to happen and although the sfx are on crack it's nothing we have not seen in The Avengers every other scene. The film lacks imagination i suppose you could boil it down to, not one really unique vein runs through this film.

Have a spliff, imagine a fire in a big cool building bolt on the tedious hollywood action film formula for saving the family and you have your film. No point in going to see it because you just imagined the whole plot as you read my post and know everything that will happen and achingly tediously... when!

A skyscraper full of shit, avoid paying cinema price to see this and wait for a web-dl.

Just watched A Quiet Place, it's phenomenal. Very chilling, well written and acted - can't recommend it enough.
