Donald Trump

There is literally nothing he could do to switch off the support of his base. They will always make excuses for him. The same applies to his supporters on here. Occasionally one or two of them may criticise individual things he’s done but I’ve not seen a single one turn against him completely. They may go quiet for a while after particularly monumental fuck ups but they always come back eventually with a “still doing a good job” post.

Republican James Comey has said that other issues don't matter and I agree with him. The Democrats need to frame the debate around this issue IMO. Either people can vote for a congress that will continue to enable a POTUS who sells us out to Putin and other murderous dictators or they can vote for candidates who will actually hold him accountable. Taxes, jobs, healthcare are all important but not nearly as important as getting a KGB asset out of the WH. You either vote to further Russia's interests or you vote to protect America.

Because they need a high level of anti-Trump turnout to win. Running Progressives now (most places) only heightens the chance that you'll galvanize right-wing opposition and boost their turnout.

There will be plenty more Trumpian fuck-ups in the next months, much more bad news too; Democrats will be able to cherry-pick what their individual constituents care most about. If you want to stop Trump, just vote. Just let the newsflow drop and focus on registration and turnout. The rhetoric will write itself as the death spiral increases in velocity. Just don't be lazy and take victory for granted as Clinton did. Pound the pavement, listen a lot, register voters.

Wow!!

Now this is super interesting!!

Were you both "Never Trump"-ers OR have both decided that issues are no longer a concern in the current climate?

I'm interested as Jimmy Dore is very much of the 'F*ck Russia, sort out America' stance (very Democratic Socialist) whereas you guys sound like Clinton type-Dems (not meant as a slur) where its 'Well, I ain't Donald!' as a defence!!

If you get my meaning...?

Is there a mix of Dems out there that could take up both positions as I suggested??

Issues will always matter but you have to prioritize. Imagine being in a sinking ship in the middle of the ocean, you wouldn't worry too much about a hole in your sock until you plug the leak in the boat. America is being attacked by Russia and POTUS is either fine with it or is too stupid to realize it. We need to deal with that first because if it keeps up there won't be any jobs or healthcare to worry about at all.

I am absolutely a Never-Trumper -- back in the the 90s, that meant don't lend the motherfucker any money, let alone don't let him become President in 2016. His politics have always been completely irrelevant to me. I could agree with him lockstep and I would never vote for him because he's a liar, a flake, a narcissist, monstrously amoral, a bully, inconceivably stupid and a c*nt.

I literally hate him more than any other prominent American and have done for long before his political ambitions became clear. The fact that he is President of my country is effectively my worst political nightmare come true.

I am not a registered independent but have voted for candidates of both parties over 30+ years of electoral history in a variety of offices, with a lean left, but a lean away from extremists on either side, and a focus on centrists. I like pragmatists with a heart and a desire to serve. Hard to find them actually.

This is well worth 2min 40sec of anyone’s time

It was from last week, in listened at the time but it still seems as bizarre today as it did then

Just watched this..seriously wtf. Just when I think he can’t get any worse. Unbelievable. What’s staggering is the amount of intelligent people (on both sides of the pond) who can simply look the other way or just shrug it off.

Talk about the emperors new clothes, there’s a narcissistic quarter wit who is the leader of the free world. Unbelievable.

Hmm, then I would have to say 'Huh?' due to not knowing the frame of reference. Nixon was named in court as being involved, was he?

He was: https://www.nytimes.com/1974/06/07/...rator-but-didnt-indict-st-clair-confirms.html

Had a huge bearing on the Supreme Court when they eventually ruled 8-0 that he had comply with the subpoena to turn over the Watergate tapes and could not rely on "executive privilege" to exclude them. That was, of course, a problem since one was the "smoking gun" tape that showed he knew about Watergate all along after lying daily for 18 months, and in fact had directed the cover-up from day one, ordering the CIA to order the FBI to halt investigation of the break-in -- a clear abuse of power (and part of the impeachment articles).

I pretty much agree with all of that except for hating him. I'm disgusted by him but I wouldn't say I hate him. I don't want him to die or even go to prison, I just want him out of my life. When he was a two-bit con man who groped women and hosted a game show I could avoid him with very little effort but now he's everywhere.

Also, I'm a Democrat and can't remember voting for a republican. I live in an extremely red district in a swing state (PA) so I throw my support to the underdogs locally but always vote Democrat in state and National elections. There have been Democrats I wouldn't have voted for but they've never been in my district.
