What’s the obsession with everything being remastered? Most of the time the remastered version is shit when compared to the original track .

Have a listen to The Stone Roses album and compare it to the 20th Anniversary remaster.
Some are better, some worse. The problem is they remaster stuff that doesn't need it, just to generate sales.
 
The DSD remasters of the Rolling Stones albums are pretty good FWIW.

Mastering is a massive can of worms, and is all down to the personal taste of the artist/sound engineer/producer.

The early 90's were particularly bad times, everything was cranked up and compressed in order to get noticed on radio. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war)

Another problem is MP3 compression bit rates. Anything below 256kbps sounds crap played through a decent HiFi system, but perfectly acceptable for a portable music player or sh**ty laptop speakers.
