Not sure you understand how cycling works or where the prestige in the sport lies. Olymipcs is way down the list, below all the grand tours, every GC winner of a GT gets protected by their team.

I would prefer to win the Vuelta than win a gold medal. It would be harder and it would mean more.

Where was his adult Creche when he went on a solo 80k breakaway to pretty much tie up the Giro? The grand tours and the 5 one day monuments mean more to any pro cyclist than any colour medal you get at the Olympics

Grand tours yes, monuments / Olympics is a much harder call. The Olympics only come round every four years. In that time, there’d be 20 monuments. That said, a Paris-Roubaix on the palmares is a joy to behold. Nothing comes close to the grand tours though and within the grand tours the TDF sits at the apex by a considerable distance, hence Merckx, Hinault, Lemond, Fignon,et al are light years ahead in the cycling pantheon when compared to the likes of Sanchez and other Olympic champions.

BJL_City - you really do need to “gen up” on your cycling. You’re getting killed in this debate by some very knowledgeable people.
