Shades of peps first season where there's no fluid style of play or sense of control and the team is left open. Why change a winning system I don't know but its been the issue in pretty much all the games so far. The team can't press effectively, they can't attack with no cohesiveness unless from overlapping runs from the fullbacks(often mendy) and there are so many players pushing forward there's no one getting on the ball in the dangerous areas to make a difference.

Last season with two out and out wingers set to stay wide and fullbacks only there to offer an option for a pass-back so that the team will start again on the other side, there was a control about the play, silva and debruyne could pick up spaces in the pockets to link up play due to how spread the wingers made the pitch and opposition full backs rarely if ever attacked. This season mendy as good as his is with his crosses and runs has completely unbalanced the side and the 3 at the back has just not worked. The quicker pep reverts to what has worked and changes the better it will otherwise there will be a lot of games like that this season.

Play 4-3-3, move mahrez to the middle with silva and fernandinho to play the de bruyne role, move jesus to the left and sterling the right with aguero through the middle and tell mendy to stay in his position and only offer a cut-back option when the team attacks.
 
What is wrong with us this season?

We look devoid of ideas lately. The flowing football from last season has been missing last 2 games.

Pep needs to give them a rocket
 
I trust it’ll be sorted out. But I think we’ll always miss chances...just frustrating that we’re not generating the same kind of chances as last year it seems. Seem way more content to dance around the outside of the box now. Feels like fewer runs in behind and fewer times where a cross or pullback has multiple targets inside the box.
 
Pretty poor ,that kind of defending will cost us a lot of points this year, 3-rd game in a row conceding by very poor defending imo...we need a goal in first 10 minutes in the second half ,to get back comfort to our team and make Newcastle press us more ,which will bring more counter attacking opportunities
 
These games are always difficult unless you convert your early chances. Go two up and the game opens. Concede first and you’ll be lucky to pick up a point.

Aside from Stones, who looks outstanding, the rest haven’t looked up to standard. The biggest issue is our passing, which, on appearance at least, looks far below what we saw last season. Aside from that, the intensity also looks to be lacking.

If we want to be confident of winning, we need to score two goals in the next 45 minutes and we must not concede the next goal. Mahrez needs to come off for Bernardo. He looks lost. Crossing without purpose and repeatedly giving the ball away.

Mendy is a liability playing inside. If we’re not going to overlap and utilise what he is good at then bring on Delph for his greater defensive stability and passing.
