Going to watch Roma

I went for the CL game a few years back. Was a brilliant win to send us through. Atmosphere was decent.

Will never complain about the queues at th'Etihad again! over an hour to get in, including a ticket/ID check/pat down at the perimiter fence, slowest 'fast track QR scanner' IN THE WORLD to check ticket, then ANOTHER ticket/ID check/pat down to get into the stands. All in 29degC lunchtime sun. Decent game though, good atmosphere where we were, nowt from the 17 or so Chievo fans that were there!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it mate. Traditionally she can be a cruel mistress Italian football, with some poor quality and boring games, but of late the Serie A has been far more entertaining and the fans passion is always there. Would love to see it get back to the level of the early 90s although that ship has probably sailed now. Rome is such a great city too outside of the football which is more than can be said for a lot of big teams around Europe.

Out of curiosity, did the Roma fans still sing Grazie Roma after the game? I’ve never seen them lose or draw as they did against Chievo so am keen to find out! Cheers bud.

Going to Rome v Lazio this saturday. Sat in the distinti Sud so hopefully should be able to fully appreciate the atmosphere.

Seems a long walk out of town to the ground so any tips on getting there?

As long as you can get the metro or bus or whatever to Flaminio do that and then take the #2 tram from Flaminio to Mancini (He came from Italy) and it’s a short walk over the bridge from there. That’s what was easiest for me. I usually stay around the Colosseum area.

Enjoy it! The atmosphere never disappoints on derby day

Not sure, there were a fair amount of Boos and whistles.

+1 for tram. We got the metro from Termini to Flamini, then the #2 tram. It was proper busy though on the Metro, and proper packed on the tram. Set off earlier than you think too, I was aiming to get to the ground about 45-50 mins before KO but I was glad we were there earlier, mental queues. Oh and make sure you go to the right entrance at the perimeter fence, there were a mexican family in front of us the other week who queued for ~30mins only to be turned away.

Thanks for the advice. Makes the queues into SSL3 sound like an absolute doddle.

Thanks for the info. Not far from Pallazzo di Montecitorio so will walk to flamini and get the tram from there.

Thats what I said to the Mrs, I'm not sure what I'd rather, the queue for M1 in the pissing rain or that queue in the blistering midday sun.
How was it?

It was brilliant mate. I was in the distinti sud near the corner flag so had a great view of the curve and was also part of the atmosphere. Love the drama and theatrics of Italian football. On the Roma curva there was a blue and white flag with a rat on it which was clearly an insult to Lazio and something I could not imagine a engligh crowd considering such a flag.

Lazio started well but Roma came back into it and they seemed to lose confidence. Kolo scoring the winner was the icing of the cake. Caicedo was Lazios sub and his introduction pretty much confirmed they had no chance of getting back into the match.

On the sunday I went to Fiorentina v Atalanta also. Blistering heat sat on the curva fiesola with no roof. Again great atmosphere and the most ridiculous dive for a penalty you could imagine. Got some great videos of the curva, in full voice,as there is a walkway below.

Only minor gripes are the perspex glass they use to separate stands and the distance from the pitch both stands were from the action.
