Sad, sad news. Couldn’t believe it when the press said he was 63 either.
(Circa 1977/8 still only seems like a couple of minutes ago to me).

Where the fck have the last 40 years gone?!! :-(

Awful news. As my username reveals I’m a huge fan of The Fall and Mark E Smith’s death upset me, but wasn’t a surprise. This is actually more cutting. That whole scene probably never happened without Pete Shelley, Buzzcocks and that Free Trade Hall gig.

I remember seeing them at Belle Vue before they had an album out when I was 14. They were handing out badges. Nobody had a clue what they meant at the time.

We used to go to their offices (new hormones) near Piccadilly station somewhere and pester them for badges. posters etc.
