Schalke Travel Plans

Three of us Man-Dam Tues morn, rattler for 3 hours to Dusseldorf arrive 4.20 in the afternoon. Flying back midday Thursday via Madrid. Arrive Manc 5.40

Man to Eindhoven with ryanair under £60 return. Only problem it leaves just 6 hours to get to Gelsenkirchen. I've took a chance. No flight Thurs so coming back Friday.

As I live in Gelsenkirchen it’s obviously the draw of my dreams.

Some will stay in Düsseldorf, some in Dortmund and some in Gelsenkirchen. What I can highly recommend is Bochum. Big town with a great party mile in the City Center called the “Bermudadreieck”. Plenty of great bars...Even if you have a hotel in Gelsenkirchen or Dortmund I think it’s a great place for a drink the night before. From both towns only about 20min by train. Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund are ghost towns at midweek. If you have any questions, just ask me.

I was one of the few blues who went to Bochum for the pre-season friendly back in the 80s. I think it was 1982, and we definitely won 1-3. But I can't remember too much about this fantastic Bochum nightlife!

Happy to hear this bud, we're staying in Dusseldorf on the Tuesday night but staying in Bochum on the day/night of the game and heard the same hence the reason we booked it

It's always good to hear from people that know the area so your knowledge is very welcome, you may have PM's incoming from me nearer the time, cheers

Cheers mate.

We stayed in Dusseldorf for the the Monchengladbach game and it was full of blues on the main strip of bars in Dusseldorf the night before the game.

Is Bochum usually busy mid-week even when there's no football on?
