TV Games - April / May

So what we know...

- Leicester game scheduled for half 12 Saturday 4th
- United are out (they would of played second week at home) due to UEFA rules. Irrelevant now.
- Ajax are now through and have the KNVB cup final (FA cup final) at 5pm on Sunday 5th.(extremely hard to move this?)
- Liverpool on TV on Sunday 5th at half 4 against Newcastle and high chance they will be through CL semis against Porto. (2-0 agg)

All in All - difficult to see a domestic cup moving with less 3 weeks to go so Ajax will have to play on the Wednesday 8th and Liverpool/Porto the Tuesday 7th unless they force Liverpool to just move to Saturday 3pm? They will highly likely change us to the Sunday half 4...

Any thoughts?

Think you're right that Ajax will likely have to play the second leg Wednesday, meaning regardless of our progress or not tomorrow, Liverpool progressing would mean they would play their 2nd leg on the Tuesday. Liverpool playing 3 games in 6 days (including 2 against Barca) is no bad thing for us.

However, that would mean they can't play their league game on the Sunday.

Their game will 100% be televised, so either they move their game to 7.45 on the Saturday, or in my opinion more likely we move to the Sunday and they take our slot. Sunday at 4pm is Sky's main slot so I stand by my belief that they will have one of us playing on the Sunday at 4.

If we progress and end up playing first leg on Tuesday as we suspect, then our Burnley game will also move.

I hadn't realised Spurs are also due to play on the Monday night as it stands, so if we get knocked out tomorrow, that complicates matters further, but no idea when we would play in that circumstance.

So, after the fall out from last night, Spurs and Liverpool’s televised games on Monday the 6th and Sunday the 5th of May will both need to be moved back a day, at least, due to the semi final dates.
The Liverpool game WILL move to the Saturday, given they have a Wednesday/Tuesday semi final.
The most obvious change to make is swapping City v Leicester with Spurs v Bournemouth, which would move them to Saturday lunchtime and stick us on the Bank Holiday Monday night. That’ll be less than two weeks to change a load of pre-booked arrangements with the usual bucket of shite being served to us for ‘not having a full stadium’ on a Monday night!

You are correct about the possible movements, but if we haven't dropped any points it will be a full house guaranteed.

so what we know now....
Champions league Semis:
Dates 30th April/1st May
7th/8th May
Spurs vs Ajax
Barca vs Liverpool

Confirmed on official sites:
Tuesday 30th April
  • Tottenham vs Ajax - Kick-off time: 8pm BST - BT Sport TBC
Wednesday 1st May
  • Barcelona vs Liverpool - Kick-off time: 8pm BST - BT Sport TBC
Tuesday 7th May
  • Liverpool vs Barcelona - Kick-off time: 8pm BST - BT Sport TBC
Wednesday 8th May
  • Ajax vs Tottenham - Kick-off time: 8pm BST - BT Sport TBC

So its looks like Liverpool will be playing Newcastle 4.30 Sunday and 51 hours later or so against Barca
Same for Spurs - They play Bournemouth Monday night 8pm and 48 hours later against Ajax.
Ajax also have a cup final at 5pm on Sunday. Barca play Saturday evening.

Where this leaves City is that we play on the sky sports slot at 12.30 Sat and liverpool and Spurs have the Sunday evening and MNF slots.
Are they going to allow 48 hours between games or will we be forced to swap? Hope city put the foot down!!

This also makes the case that if a team is left in the champions league then their domestic fixtures should be anytime on a Saturday to lessen later fixture disruption!
