It shouldn't be.
Emirates group is a subsidiary of the Investment Corporation of Dubaï. The latter can be seen as a sovereign wealth fund of Dubaï in the UAE. It is clearly related to the government and is using sports to gather a better image. Why is it Emirates sponsor one of the biggest brands in any big league : Real Madrid, Arsenal, AC Milan, PSG (until this year), Hamburg, Benfica ? To associate with the value of those brands and do what they call "sport washing".

How is it different than the sovereign fund of Qatar (QIA with QSI subsidiary) investing in PSG, Barcelona (Qatar Foundation, Qatar Airways), Roma (Qatar Airways) ? The reason and the goal is the same. Being an owner only change the scale of the investment.

I have never seen anyone contest the Emirates sponsorship on ethical grounds, even for PSG. What people don't like is that when the same entities own clubs, they are able to invest way more than their favorite clubs and they suddenly feel it is unethical.

Can only been taken seriously if they apply those ethics to everyone. Meaning you go after any contract (not only ownership but sponsorship too) coming from those who are involved in "sport washing". That includes UAE and Qatar monarchies but also a lot of other actors. They should also ask for a ban on those kit manufacturers that are doing slave and child labour but aren't being called out.
I'm all for ethics if they are not used for an hidden agenda, here stopping a rival from being too competitive.

These charlatan's exploit huge geo-political problems in order to score cheap clicks without a second thought. The front theory was promulgated by a convicted fraudster named Boyrhul. He was one of the "city slickers" from the Mirror, who was convicted of insider trading. He now runs a "yellow sheet" (of very dubious veracity) in the Emirates. Since ADUG is the parent of CFG, they would have to be fooling the authorities of at least seven countries..
Altho' Mansour is spending 'dirty oil money', it comes from his royalties not from the state. Besides, apart from one technical adjustment, he has not funded City for several years.
And why is oil money 'dirty'? Nope, a vital commodity.
I have seen in the Grauniad a statement that Mansour is a member of the AD government, citing his title of 'deputy prime minister'. This is a courtesy title, bound up with the arab concept of 'face', given who he is. He does not sit on the Executive Council, which is AD's governing body. He is, however, the Chairman of the Horse racing board !

No subtle difference, no defence of the so called free press, is it is a ‘lie’, and the press are the liars, more or less all of them.

And the biggest joke is nearly every one of them work for organisations part or largely owned by the states they allegedly find abhorrent regarding human right abuses.

Are the payments they receive every month not tainted?
Will they stop working for these organisations? They should at least refuse the freebie all expenses paid trips to the World Cup in Qatar?
