Baku is in Europe and is a fantastic city and the stadium is very nice. Just because it doesn’t suit people who live miles away doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be held there. If an Azerbaijan team ever got the the final, should the final not be held in Lisbon just because it’s a long way away?

The biggest issue is the price of tickets, not the choice of venue. Okay Micky whatsisname cant play there but Arsenal never moaned about that when Baku was voted on to host it two years ago.

He's confused. They don't understand the world around them. Whilst the American establishment wrestles with interventionism the fascists of the new age provide the intellectual justification for continued world conflict. A lifetime of education lost in a few short years. A sad waste of a very talented writer. Unfortunately that is the way with much of humanity. Most people never discover their talent. Barney did, but then he uses it to pen poison.

The issues are not where it is. It is ticket prices and getting there. Baku recommends flying to Tblisi in Georgia and getting the train 560km's, no stewarding.

It shouldn't be awarded 2 years in advance, the whole system is bent and picking a venue where there is limited flights, accomodation in a country where some players cannot even enter is pathetic whether baku is nice or not or not or if it is in europe doesn't matter.

The final is in the close season and also 3 weeks after the semis, every european league can arrange domestic cup finals within a fortnight, the final venue should be an alloted stadium in each country pre ready to host and then once the semis are concluded the most reasonable one used.

Fucked if I would have gone if we were in it.

Azerbaijan isn't in Europe at all. Neither are Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan. Asia starts on the eastern side of the Dardanelles. Those countries are very firmly geographically in Asia. Israel is also in Asia but was admiited to UEFA because of the political difficulties of their club and national teams playing in Asian competitions when the chance of being drawn against the likes of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States is inevitable at some point. Turkey is in UEFA because they have part of their country geographicaly in Europe. I've never understood why these former Soviet states in Asia were ever admitted to UEFA in the first place.

Yesterday the Guardian published this https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/may/24/welcome-to-elite-football-great-summer-of-hate very prominently on Guardian football. It is written by Barney Ronay who is the same journalist who accused City fans of siding with the UAE when Matthew Hedges, a Durham student was arrested and charged last year.
