It looks like a gaggle of deranged Liverpool fans looking for the PL trophy, cos dey thought dey were top of der werld.

"All dis way n' ders fuck all trophy up ear likkke soft lad" : /

Over 5600 people have successfully climbed Everest. Only 306 have done K2. And it's a fraction of the cost. Having said that, surely the fact that so many people are doing it is an indicator that they could easily double the price of the permit.

I'm hopefully going to Nepal this year, but I'm not going anywhere near the top of a mountain.

K2 is a much harder climb.

The Ant Middleton documentary highly gated this queuing thing he almost threw someone off to get down because they’ve got idiots up there with no climbing experience just deep pockets.

I'm not being flippant here but is that a real photo or has it been Photoshoped? Also I understand about those with deep pockets wanting to climb to the top as it must be very expensive, but it cannot be that easy that there is a trail of climbers waiting their turn to get to the summit ?

What is the point.the challenge is being the first.after so many people do it every year the prestige has deminished and people are being killed who should not be up there anyway.like someone said ,posh twats with more money than sense

There are some fascinating books about how this has been over-commercialised. Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air gives good insight. It looks from this, and news reports, as though matters have got a whole lot worse recently.
Into thin air was a great read
