Matthijs de Ligt

Sky now saying UTD not in for him?????

I guess Barca back in the playground.

If this is about agent fees £20m & a whopping £300.000 then say goodbye it aint happening at City

If it’s true he’s only going to United because they are paying him an obscene amount and we don’t want to break our wage structure then we’ve made the right call.

However don’t kid yourself this guy ain’t a player. And equally don’t bury your head in the sand that Maguire is some sort of equal.

We can make the right call in not signing De Ligt but be grown up enough to admit United have bagged themselves a real gem.

Apologies didn’t realised he had signed.

ok right now would you at least agree if say vvd mbappe and de jong were with us now we would be a better team ? and yeah there is always a room for improvement no matter how good of a season you have. its too late to sign any of those players but if similar talents are available we need to go all out for them.

No one can answer that! what we can answer is our team in the last 2 seasons have broke records made history and to do that you have to have an unbelievable team and team spirit. All three players are brilliant but its hypothetical to say would we be a better team, facts are we are the best team the premier has ever seen Now.

Gollum Ballbag is their source. If anything that means United are further down the line in getting a deal done.

Ed Woodward strikes again

How could he not have been enticed by the Europa league, playing for a rookie manager who failed at Cardiff and has aged 10 years in six months... and best of all playing alongside phil Jones

Exactly.

Footballers and their Agents are everything that is wrong with football. It’s now all about money.

If true?

How on Earth a young footballer like him would consider United, only because of the wages they pay, is beyond me.

He has another 15 years left as a footballer, and no matter which top club he went to, he would still end up being a multi-millionaire.

To go to United now and play for them(see above) after doing what he did this season with Ajax, has money as the only motivation written all over it.

PS. Don’t forget. United players have lost a 1/4 of their wages because they didn’t reach the CL. What will he be on then, if that club clause is or isn’t factored into his wage demands?

Do we know for sure that City are / were in for him? It would be an obvious move on City's part but maybe we switched attention to Maguire with the English quotient in mind or took view that any player with the option of Barca would choose that so why waste time?

Of course, the pure footballing decision at this moment would surely be City, who have arguably the best team in Europe now and a relatively young squad that does not need a major rebuild; oh, and is managed by the best football coach of our time. Not to forget that the EPL has a very good claim to be the biggest and best league in Europe right now.

The big problem any player has joining City is that they have to face serious competition for their place.

We can cry about money being a motivator now but Tevez, Adebayor etc. only came to City for money initially. For some players money is the main thing, and why not? He has 12 years ahead of him, £200k a week at Barca who themselves look like they are about to have a break down (despite the league win) or £300k a week at United, it's a huge difference.
