Oleksandr Zinchenko signs new five year contract

Still needs to learn how to cover his wing when he gets forward as the others in the system are doing too much for him in that regard and it probably hurts us as an attacking force and still needs to work on his physical attributes, but hasn't done badly and happy enough to see him extend. Definitely been great for us this last year while Mendy has been injured and Delph found out but imo if he doesn't improve he'll be found out too.

Every top club, has had 'squad' players.

My argument for years, has been that our academy could have produced quite a few of them, but it has never been tested out.

Zinchenko is a shining example of how this can & could work, even amongst an elite group of players. He still gets loads of things wrong & teams seek to exploit it, but he also gets loads of things right & contributes all around the pitch & he works his balls off trying to improve.

It looks like we will soon have two left backs, but Zinchenko will most likely still make a contribution either there or in another position & he is humble enough to get on with it & do that, where asked to, in contrast to many 'elite' players who will just refuse.

He must be so happy. He was almost gone last season. He seems to be well liked too by all the players. He’s only going to get better

Great news & well deserved.

great news and one of biggest improved players last year.

was nearly on his way out but didn't and instead of moaning knuckled down and waited for his chance. Took it and showed what a winner he is.

18 months ago would we have said "shit zinchenko is injured". But we said it nit long ago when he had to go off.

Can play in more than one position, strong lad, takes the game by the scruff at times and has spells of controlling the game.

don't we just love the KDB & Zinch link !!
