Yeah, I find it odd as well. Surely, if hawkeye shows that the ball is going on to hit the stumps, irrespective of by how much, then the batsman should be given out. I was told on here a couple of days back that it is because hawkeye is only about 99% accurate and that the benefit of the doubt should go to the batsman. Hmm.

well the whole point of the margin of error is that the prediction means for "Umpire's Call" it's not guaranteed the ball will hit the stumps in those situations, it's a percentage based on the estimate. Thus, as it's below 50% it's not sufficient to say it's more likely or not to hit so the umpire's decision should stand.

The difference with England is that we invented most of the modern international sports so we feel a connection and an obligation to compete at all of them. Most other countries pick and choose and then focus on them, that is the foundation of our gallant losers tag.
