What is Manchester to you?

Fair enough! Were it me, and I had to live in N. England, I’d probably pick the Lake or Peak District, but to each their own.
Prefer the city to the country, and a big city with easy access to the Lakes and Peak District, close to a major airport and containing the world’s best football club is even better. Especially living in a nice suburb close to decent pubs and restaurants. What’s not to like?

And that would be a wise choice, I’m a Mancunian but no way would I live in Manchester over the Lake District or Peak District.

I was born in Withington Hospital in the 60s. Spent first 6 weeks in Hulme then the next 20 -odd years in WHP Wythenshawe. Since then lived in Hull and London and back in Manchester briefly- Northenden. Spent the last 20 years on the Fylde Coast. Still consider myself a proud Manc and Lancastrian.

Like bobbymimms above, I too lived in Fallowfield. Walked to school in Burnage, down Ladybarn Lane & Mauldeth Road, crossed Kingsway. No lifts in car from Mummy & Daddy in those days. The road I lived in was nice and pleasant, now it's a tip. Went to pics at the Scala, Palatine, Casino, Kingsway, Trocadero, Lido (Burnage). Walked thru Platt Fields to watch City at Maine Road. Wish I could walk that far now.
Living in Cheshire now but proud to be a Mancunian.
