HS2 - Cancel it now

The problem with the price is the UK's lassez faire attitude to property regulation. Property prices and land value has gone up and up as wealthy landlords monopolise available housing stock while net migration raises housing demand. That means the HS2 company has to pay through the nose to buy up all the land on the route and it's why other huge infrastructure projects are cripplingly expensive.

I hope it doesn’t reach us.

It’s only been thought up to drain talent out of the places it will reach and take them down to London with the enticement of a one hour (from Manchester) commute there.

Fuck it and fuck ’em!

We need a Liverpool to Leeds line far more than we need a Manchester to London line.

Even if completed, it will never take an hour from Manchester to London
The distance is roughly 200 miles and the maximum speed is a supposed 225mph
The train will be limited at the start and ends of the journey for example it wo t be travelling through Stockport station at 225 and by law it will have to stop there and to be anywhere near an hour, then that means it has to be direct and no stops
For how much distance will it be running at full tilt?
