Mellieha, Malta

We're going there in just over a week. Any tips/recommendations?
Hi mate

Yes , the harbour is lovely.

Deffo do the boat trip to Pirate Town. They have stalls selling the trip round the harbour , just make sure you do the trip that includes the boat ride up the river too.

Pirate town (sorry cant remember its proper name is stunning).

Supetar on brac island (main town where the harbour is) beautiful too.

Also , you pass through split on the way but worth getting the ferry back for a night. The buildings and history is amazing

We're staying in Bol for 7 nights. Then we have a night in Split before we fly home.

Not heard of Pirate Town, but will look out for the boat trips. Are they from Bol or Supetar?

Think the Pirate town might be Omis, city of the pirates.

ive a feeling they sail from both as when we got on at Supetar people were already on and sure they said theyd got on at Bol.

We got the boat from supetar to ‘pirate town’ then walked through the town and on another boat for a trip up river and the scenery was stunning, then back to the town and a bit of time there.
Thoroughly enjoyed it

We fly to Malta tomorrow and are staying at the Seabank as well. Not been Malta since the mid nineties. Stayed in Qawra and St Julians. Fantastic place . Remember the buses being proper ancient from the 50/60's and packed to the rafters. I imagine they must have a new fleet of buses
How ya finding it?

I love Malta, especially Mellieha. Been Seabank many times in the last few years and can't recommend it highly enough. It is a quiet area of the island, but you can get to anywhere on the island by bus, which are also ridiculously cheap. Mellieha is not far from Cirkewwa too, where you can catch the ferry to Gozo. Going back in October, and have already booked for next May.

I owned a villa in Mellieha on Santa Maria until 2006. It's a lovely town on the north of the island, with Malta's best beach.....Golden Bay is nice too.

Go and see Popeye's village nearby, and have a day trip to Gozo…(20 mins on the ferry)

However, Mellieha is a bit "out of the way", Bugibba is a bit more more central, and if you want night life St Julians is the place to go.

Hire a small car to get around, the island is only 20 miles long.

The Sunday morning market at Marsaxxlok at the south is excellent.

A visit to Valletta is a must, go and visit The grand Harbour.

Love the place. Food excellent, kids are having a ball. Alcohol flowing all day long and weather glorious,. Popeye village tomorrow followed by Brazilian restaurant. Ferry to blue lagoon on Monday
Hi,if you get chance go into the Mellieha band club in the square where the church is,
The people are really friendly and welcoming, the food is very nice and I found the drinks to be reasonably priced.
