Whaley Bridge evacuated over fear of dam wall collapse

thats bollocks though isnt it.
The canals andabd waterways trust was set up by slimey daves government in 2012 so they could close down British Waterways and save money as part of the austerity measures
any lack of maintenance linked to lack of funds which is directly linked back to the government in 2012.
Which is directly linked to the previous government spending every penny we had and leaving a note admitting it.
And borrowing more than we could afford to pay back.
Cheers Tony.

still linked to government cuts, which you claimed it wasnt.

what lead to the cuts being made is a different argument.

On Newsnight last night, a woman interviewed the Chief Executive of the Canals and Waterways Trust. It was a grilling tantamount to him being in the dock at the Old Bailey. He said at the outset the dam was inspected last November, all dams that are governed by them inspected once a year by the Trust and independently inspected every 10 years. He said nothing of concern was shown on the inspection in November, then she goes on at him asking him time again about how and why the dam began to give way and could this have been foreseen? I spoke outloud to the telly and myself, "how many more times does he have to tell you this was inspected and nothing was of concern on the inspection". It was so stupid and how he didn't tell her to shut her trap, because of the $hit she was talking, I don't know. Then a Labour minister came on and then started going on about not spending enough, blah, blah, blah. At times like these, stop arguing amongst each other and all roll your bloody sleeves up.
I've seen that woman on Newsnight before, she's garbage, so aggressive. The lovely Emily is a really good interviewer without resorting to a tabloid style of journalism.

Not to mention the trillion the Tories have borrowed since 2010.
Cheers Dave and Mave.
Oh and De Feffil now promising to spend, spend, spend and tax cuts(for the better off) by even more borrowing.
PS Don't forget Tory Reginald Maudling's note in 1964, much better than Liam Byrne's.

What’s that got to do with the dam in the High Peak?

I watch Newsight often but she was new to me and I agree, very aggressive interviewing and no need for it. Agree, Emily is very good at her job what puts me off her though is she is a rag:-?

The dude I was replying to had made the point that the Tories had privatised former British Waterways to save money cos previous Labour Govt had borrowed too much.
Keep up mate.

I’ll ask you again, how did that contribute to the accident at the dam?

Can we not have a bleeding left/right argument over something that has nothing to do with the government?

the point i was making that IF the dam failure was due to lack of maintenance because of lack of funding this was linked to government

i made the point because a previous poster claimed there was no link
