Community shield Post match thread

That had rather more of competitive nature than your usual Community Shield.

First off and most important....we won and did so in a manner that will boil scouse piss. Just as enjoyable as if we had battered then by 4 or 5.

We have learned the inevitable that we will play against the officials as well as the opposition more often than not this season, and that we are not allowed to make tackles but the opposition can kick our players at will without fear of sanction.

Very promising first half performance, second half was frankly worryingly poor. Bravo mom by a mile. Raheem showed how close he is to becoming a world class player, one of those would have put those second half misses away.

There were some awful passes in that second half, fair play to Liverpool who went for it in the second half and City had to dig deep.

All in all a most satisfying day, and perhaps one where one or two warning signs that need to be dealt with if our season is to a good one were seen.

Always fun to get a trophy at the start of the season. Final ball was lacking at times. Game could've been killed much earlier. Gundogan was shit but took a great penalty. Stones and Otamendi both looked good. What a clearance by Kyle Walker. Rodri was hot and cold but there is definite a shit ton of talent in him. We'll be fine. Looking forward to West Ham now.

Maybe it's deemed not important due to the shite name?

I don't know, probably doesn't make too big an impact.

One thing I do know is that the importance of competitions can change drastically. The Copa del Rey in Spain is probably the best example.

You go back a bit and these are the winners from 2000 onwards. Espanyol, Zaragoza, Deportivo la Coruna, Mallorca, Zaragoza, Betis, Espanyol, Sevilla, Valencia.

Notice who's missing?

Then Pep takes over in 2008 and it goes - Barcelona, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Barcelona, Barcelona, Barcelona, Valencia.

It used to be the competiton for the other teams. The big boys would focus completley on La Liga and Europe, but then Pep came in and said he wanted to win every trophy, every season, and since then it's become as important as the FA Cup is here.

Do they actually think their 2nd half dominance was because of their superior footballing skills or tactical ability, as opposed to City being totally fucked & barely even having the legs to pass the ball, let alone press, properly ?

I think they are going to drop a lot more points v lesser teams this season, as we may also do, but not so many as them.

And you call the dippers 'the victims''. According to you guys Loserpool should have had 20% of they goals disallowed because of bad decisions and corrupt officials last season... lets not forget the press too. Now it appears that after 1 game nothing has changed ... either the ref obviously robbed you of a 4-0 win or your fitness did.
