It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

You keep going on about this, but it makes no sense at all that Cancelo would play leftback when we have three actual leftbacks in the squad. Also he apparently hates playing there, Sam's article the other day was saying how one of the main reasons he fell out with Spalletti at Inter was him being asked to play on the left side.

you don't replace players like Silva, Fernandinho, eventually Sane, Mendy, Gundogan with bunch of kids and continue to win multiple trophies. It's hard to replace such players with world class players, as you never know how they will adapt, let alone kids.

Kids knocking on the first team door will never be main source of new players at clubs like City are. One in 100 bluemoons will become regular, the rest will be sold for profit or be used as backup. They can be, of course, but we'd go Arsenal route, not domination one.

Pretty sure we are going the Barca route not the Arsenal route, but sure...our kids suck. Keep being you.

Assuming that we don’t go for someone in the winter, this looks like being the first year since 2013-14 that we haven’t spent big/decent money on a player from an English/Welsh club.

not Scarlet Sam again - good grief

Good summer, good transfer window and apart from the odd knob a good ‘it’s quiet thread’... until January!

Barca route, lol, Tebas, is that you?. They spent zillion before and after single great homemade generation they ever had. Who was their last top class academy player they produced and that got the place in first team? They spent 700-800 million at least on their current squad. There was football before Messi, Iniesta and Xavi. And after it. Nobody ever stayed on the top with academy players. And never will. Few incidents here and there, mainly at smaller clubs, before they get robbed, like Ajax or Monaco recently, but that's not sustainable and no top team ever managed to build top european class team repeatedly from their own academy. Barca surely didn't, I'm around 41 years and apart of that 2008 team, they were always full of Brazilians, Dutch etc.. Ajax did 2-3 time but between each success they had 20 years of absolute averageness. Is that what you want?

We are going, or better, we went some time ago, Chelsea route.. producing playerss in academy to sell them for profit while buying players we need for semi-top dollars. There will be many, many, many more Sanchos, Diazs, Lopezs that Fodens. And that's perfectly normal for the club with City's targets.

So with Mangala joining Valencia, I'm assuming the only other player to leave will be Grimshaw now that Carson is third choice keeper.
