Away tickets

You were front of the queue when the system started with a better oppertunity than most.

It is more about time spent travelling than money.
Ahh so travel is free then. I get it. I must remember that on my 300 mile round trips to home games now I've moved to the NE for work and family 15 years ago. Ive done my travelling and continue to do so.... for home games Cheers.

Some do it home and away, that is why they have doube the points. David Unsworth sydrome no doubt.

Supporters Club, pay for corporate or you could just do the cold Wednesday night games the other end of the country so you can catch up.....err oh hang on maybe not.

Or get on one of the Friends and Family suoerfans networks. Or get on the Face Value Ticket forums.

I have a question for all the esteemed contributors to this thread?

I'm 21 years old (54 just turned), and been a blue since about 1970 ish. I've tried to write this a few times today but I usually ended up rambling on about my time going to City matches and the above and beyond. Thing is everyone has a story to tell, everyone can show their loyalty and they have done so willingly and when they could afford to. I've been a SC holder now since 95 and through necessity I've had to cut my cloth from joining all cup schemes to a few to none to one. Same with Platinum and gold. Moved stands to make life more affordable and raised a SC holding beautiful 22 year old daughter as a blue and financed her SC throughout. Doubtless when the time comes she will carry on the tradition of Blues in the family, thus ensuring continued revenue for the club for years to come. Obviously not as much as the Sheikh but hey every penny counts.

So to my long awaited question. I find myself through cut backs as necessary on 11k points and my daughter on 10k. There used to be a time that this was an advantage. However I'm now at an age where the Mrs doesn't want me around her feet in the house and I have done ok with money, so i have a bit spare. I think i might like to attend a few always but everytime I look my points are nowhere near enough to get one. So, can someone please tell me how someone like me who has dont his bit to support, been loyal through the dark and back and spent what he could and more (dont tell Mrs), gets hold of an away ticket? Europe, PL just so I can join the adventure of it again?

Reading this thread it becomes apparent to me that money and knowing people seems to show more loyalty and reward for these things than just being me and I ain't out of the ordinary like I said, everyone of us has a story to tell about their support of City.

As the kids say these days, Jus asking. Cheers

As has been discussed plenty of times earlier in the thread, being on your points would have got you to about 9 away games last season. Looking at what's coming up I'd say you'll get one for Palace no problem.

I agree that there are tickets available. However, the blokes level of support suggests he's as loyal a fan as any other. Yet he would have absolutely zero chance of a Derby ticket and that seems unfair. Especially seeing as someone who has a few quid can buy a corporate season ticket and obtain a ticket regardless of how many seasons they've been a season ticket holder.

Completely agree with your second point that someone who has a few quid can buy a corp ticket.

But on the first point - the club removed the word "loyalty" from the points system, and it's a word that shouldn't have ever been on there but unfortunately it was, the word loyalty or loyal is a very emotive phrase around supporting a football club. I have no doubt that this poster loves and is as passionate as anyone when it comes to the club, however what I would say is that there will probably be atleast 6-7k people who have used the points system with higher points than him.

That is why the awarding of points is SO important. People on 10k who haven't had the chance to go away for whatever personal reason can move up the ladder, and in the same way the poster has had his own reasons not to go so much over the past however long, those who have been going for years will have reasons not to go. Life and circumstances change.

It will seem unfair if you feel far away from being able to get to any game you want, but on the flip side of that, it will feel unfair to me if the system completely changes as I've dedicated 13 years of my life to getting up the ladder to get in a position where I can get to any game. I know that might come across as selfish, sorry.

There are always tickets available for most games, if you don’t get one Utd or Liverpool, go to palace or Newcastle or which ever game possible, it is possible to watch city away from home, just doesn’t have to be a glamour game
I went to 16 aways last season, including cups and Europe. I’m only a mid points holder, same as the OP but 8/9 of these were on my own points. The rest came from spares from legends on here. Here’s hoping to the same this season

You're completely entitled to your opinion and I too believe that a points system is the fairest way of distributing the away allocation providing were all in the same boat.

However, a supporter thats been a season ticket holder since 1995 that has zero chance of watching city away in a big or local game seems really wrong to me.

The club bend over backwards to assist those with a few extra quid to get a ticket yet have a system in place that doesn't even give a season ticket holder of 25 years a glimmer of a chance.
